February 2018 A PUBLICATION OF THE VERMILION SAIL & POWER SQUADRON COMMANDER Paul Hammel, S The January meeting was very interesting. We decided to have other activities, starting next month. After our S.O.S. Meeting at Paper Moon, we are having a night out at the theatre. Friday February 16th at the Wellington Eagles Our own Tim Smith is in a Murder Mystery. We reserved two eight seat tables, paid in advance. If you want to go please let Cathe Radabaugh know, and send her $35.00 per person; that includes dinner and wine. Anyone having any other activities they would like to try, please let us know. We want to keep our squadron fun and interesting. Thanks go to Larry Barber for suggesting something new has to happen to keep us from getting stagnant. March 15 is our Change Of Watch at the Wellington Eagles. We have a great Bridge, starting with Cathe Radabaugh as Commander. Best of luck to all

(Will be looking for some advice for good PFDs that you all have used for a baby) Good Mid-Winter to everyone. By now that ground rat has seen its shadow telling us 6 more weeks of winter which means 6 more weeks before we can get back to getting our vessels ready for another season. Just 12 more Saturdays until the first Saturday in May! Very excited for our February 15th Meeting at Paper Moon Winery and the Annual SOS as well as a return of Sarah Orlando to speak of what is going on in the world of ODNR and our GREAT LAKE! Meeting at 6:30 and we will eat immediately following. Sarah will have the floor after dinner. We do need a head count. Mark MARCH 15th, 2018 on your calendars as our Change of Watch will take place! SECRETARY LT/C RALPH SCHAEFER,SN From the Secretaries Desk: P/C Ralph Schaefer S.N. There were 14 members present for our January meeting at the Golden Coral. Members reported the food was very good and we had a private room to meet in so it was very quiet. The Save our Sweethearts meeting will be at the Paper Moon Winery in Vermilion and feel free to order off the menu. The C.O.W. will be in March on the 15 th at the Wellington Eagles Club and that s always a good time. P/C Larry Barber made a motion to get 2 tables of 8 at the Tim Smith debut in the play murder/mystery at the Wellington Eagles. Each table gets 2 bottles of wine and dinner buffet, all for $35.00 per person and you get to see Tim Smith. This will breakup the Winter season as all we seem to do is have meetings. Contact Cathe Radabaugh for reservations. Pat Verlotti is doing much better and Bev Sams is still fighting her illness. The educational department of U.S.P.S. is planning big changes to our courses in the coming months. There will be rewrites of classes and more effort on the practical side of boating. Sect Ralph
