an explanation of TREASURES OF THE HEART We adapted the theme TREASURES OF THE HEART based on the passage in Matthew 6:19 21, with this thought in mind: Jesus Christ said, Where your treasure is, there your heart will be also. The question that comes to mind is: What treasures of your heart are you pursuing that will have an eternal value? Please join us in placing your treasures into things that will last for eternity. The TREASURES OF THE HEART campaign is designed with three consecutive levels: LEVEL 1: SILVER $1,080,000 The Silver level, when reached will allow us to pay the mortgage, in an accelerated way, for the next 3 years, reducing the principal mortgage balance by $720,000. LEVEL 2: GOLD $1,880,000 (Silver $1,080,000 + Gold $800,000) Added to the Silver level, the Gold level, when attained, will allow us to do some highly-needed and much-desired maintenance in the following three areas: $400,000 Phase 2 of the Family Life Center Renovation including, but not limited to, the following areas: Install new elevator New doors throughout second floor Floor coverings throughout New LED lighting in upstairs hallways Paint remaining parts of building, as needed Bathrooms remodeled $300,000 Ministry Growth, used to expand and grow Valley Bible Church s ministry level $100,000 Worship Center improvements LEVEL 3: PLATINUM - $4,180,000 (Silver, $1,080,000 + Gold, $800,000 + Platinum, $2,300,000) All of the funds received above the Silver and Gold levels will go towards the balance of the current mortgage. This level, when reached, will allow the mortgage to be paid in full, freeing up resources, creating more missions and ministry opportunities in the future. Treasures of the Heart Leadership Team
Dear Valley Bible Church Family and Friends: Jesus Christ said, Where your treasure is, there your heart will be also (Matthew 6:21). Randy Alcorn has written an excellent book called The Treasure Principle which builds upon this teaching of Jesus Christ. What are you investing in that will last? Alcorn shares how vain it would be to hold on to Confederate money just days before the war ceased. It becomes completely worthless once the conflict has ended. We have today to put our treasure in the things that will last forever. This June, we are planning to pursue another three-year stewardship emphasis to raise funds over and above our Ministry Fund needs to accelerate the payoff of our mortgage, do some needed improvements on our facilities, and to set funds aside for ministry. These goals have met the approval of both our elders and deacons. God wants to use you as He has in the past to meet the financial goals of this campaign. Please join us in praying for God s resources to be released through you and me. If you give as unto the Lord, you will never regret what you give. All of our giving is to be for God s glory and honor. Many people are unable to make large gifts to this kind of effort. This is one of the reasons why we chose a three-year goal for giving. God may enable you to make a monthly sacrifice to this effort, and you will be surprised to see what it will amount to over three years. We look forward in anticipation of what God will do. Now to Him who is able to do far more abundantly beyond all that we ask or think, according to the power that works within us. (Ephesians 3:20 NASB) Yours in the Yoke of Jesus, Phillip Howard Jude 24

Questions & Answers Why is the TREASURES Stewardship Program necessary? While developing generous stewards, practicing stewardship that comes from the heart will provide an opportunity to retire our mortgage, make some much-needed improvements to our facilities, and set aside funding to expand our ministries (a more detailed explanation can be found on the inside cover). How much is our mortgage and what is our monthly payment? It is anticipated that at the beginning of our campaign, our mortgage balance will be $3,000,000. Our monthly payment during this program will be $30,000; this includes $19,000 minimum payment + $11,000 towards the principal to accelerate our loan payoff as decided by the leadership. How does the stewardship program work? This program seeks giving that is above your Ministry Fund giving. Each family will be asked to prayerfully make a commitment to a sacrificial amount that is above their regular Ministry Fund giving for the next three years, giving first to the Ministry Fund and then to the TREASURES OF THE HEART Program. Where will the commitments be made? Commitments will be made at a special event to be held on Sunday, June 3 rd. At the conclusion of the event, an opportunity will be given for each person attending to make their individual commitment. Although we encourage everyone to attend this special event, other opportunities will be available for those unable to attend. When can I begin giving my commitment and how will I make my contributions to this stewardship program? We will officially begin this campaign on Sunday, June 10 th at our Victory Celebration Sunday, one service at 10:00 am. Offering envelopes will be available throughout the campaign. You may also choose to contribute online at valleybible.org. Is there a certain amount of money that I will be expected to commit to our stewardship program? No, each family should prayerfully seek God s guidance and then make a decision about their commitment. The Bible teaches prayerful, generous, sacrificial giving. Please make your gift (commitment) a matter of thoughtful and fervent prayer. Will we be asked to make our commitments publicly? No, neither will individual commitments be announced. Because they are involved in the recording of our weekly giving, the only persons who will know your amount are the Church Administrator and his staff. Additional information about TREASURES will be provided in upcoming newsletters.
