Big thanks to everyone who helped out in any way with these initiatives! Our October calendar is even fuller, starting with our annual Columbus Day Communion and Banquet on the 7 th, membership drives at both parishes, blood drive, food blitz and to cap it all off, an amazing marriage enrichment dinner event at St. Boniface on the 27 th featuring our own Dustin and Bethany Riechmann, along with national Catholic radio host Coleen Kelly Mast. This promises to be a memorable evening and a great example of the Knights putting our Faith in Action. Get your tickets now! We also have several opportunities this month to join your Brother Knights in prayer, whether at the Hope Clinic on the 13th, a Holy Hour for sick or ailing Brothers on the 18th or Eucharistic Adoration at St. Boniface later in the month. Thank you in advance for your time, talent and prayer. Vivat Jesus! Fraternally, Jim Jatcko, GK Intellectual Disabilities (Tootsie Roll) Drive Brother Knights: Thank you for all your assistance and support for our drive this year. Those of you who gave time, money and extra effort really helped to benefit many persons who daily live with special needs. Thank you also to our wives, children and friends who joined us in this important cause. I got so much support with this effort from many of you and it was so humbling to witness but I especially want to single out Dennis Hessel and Lynn and Marlene Ripper who gave up their entire weekend to help me! THANK YOU ALL SO MUCH! The following businesses gave financial support to our drive prior to the actual weekend. Please support them whenever you can: Abstracts and Titles; Alexandria s Alterations; Community Brokers Insurance Group; Country Club Lawn Services; Daryel s Family Hair Care; Daughters of Isabella; Eigenbrodt Vision Center; Dr. Rebecca Dunn; Gori-Julian & Associates; Jerry s tire Sales; Kassin and Carrow, LLC; Kettle River Furniture; Lantz Homes; Lombardi Interiors; LRE Automotive; McCarthy and Allen Attorneys; Milo s Tobacco; Sam s Club; The Bank of Edwardsville; Weber & Rodney Funeral Home. Where do our ID Drive Funds go? 100% of what we collect goes to the following agencies: Illinois Center for Autism; Special Olympics (SW Area Region 2); William M. Bedell Achievement and Resources Center; NAMI of Madison County; New Opportunities; Sts. Peter & Paul School Special Education. The mission spirit was alive and very active during this drive and it was so awesome to witness! Thank you Brother Knight Patrick Marvin was one of dozens of Brother Knights who helped collect donations for our annual ID (Tootsie Roll) Brother Knights for helping to make this happen for the least of these in our community. God s Blessings, Tom Tucker ID Drive Chairman

Knight of the Month We were happy to honor Joe Marti as our Knight of the Month at our September meeting. Joe has been serving as our council s Inside Guard and can always be relied on to help at our activities whenever he is asked. Thank you for your generosity and support of your council, Joe! Family of the Month Congratulations to Neil and Emily Joellenbeck and family for being elected as our Family of the Month. Neil serves as our council's Chancellor and also as our newsletter editor. Neil became a 4th Degree Knight in June 2018. Neil and Emily participate in Christ Renews His Parish at St. Mary and are members of the Parent Teacher Club at St. Mary's School. Sons Sam and Ben are both altar servers. Emily is the Director of Marketing and Technology Coordinator at Father McGivney Catholic High School in Glen Carbon. Thank you Joellenbecks for all that you do for your parish, our Catholic schools and our council! Spend an hour with Christ In conjunction with the Diocese of Springfield, St. Boniface will host Eucharistic Adoration in the Chapel from Monday, October 22 through Thursday, October 25 from 9:00am to 9:00pm. Bishop Paprocki tells us that this is one of the keys for Stewardship within a community, to bring Christ to the surrounding area and the world. We are asking each Brother Knight to consider helping to make this holy endeavor a success by volunteering for an hour or two. Watch your email for more details as the dates draw nearer. Christmas is just around the corner Our annual Children in Need Christmas Shopping Spree will be on Saturday, Dec. 8, starting at 8:00am. I Am a Life Insurance Policy I am a piece of paper, a drop of ink and a few dollars of premium. I am a promise to pay. I help people see visions dream dreams, and achieve economic immortality. I am education for the children. I am savings. I am property that increases in value from year to year. I lend money when you need it most, with no questions asked. I pay off mortgages, so that the family can remain together in their own homes. I assure people the daring to live and the moral right to die. I create money where none existed before. I am the great emancipator from want. I guarantee the continuity of business. I conserve the employer s investment. I am tangible evidence that a man is a good husband and father, and a woman a good wife and mother. I am a declaration of financial independence and economic freedom. I am the difference between an old man or woman and an elderly gentleman or lady. I provide cash if illness, injury, old age, or death cuts off the breadwinner s income. I am the only thing that you can buy on the installment plan that your family doesn t have to finish paying for. I am protected by laws that prevent creditors from assessing the money I give to your loved ones. I bring dignity, peace of mind and security to your family. I supply investment capital that makes the wheels turn and the motors hum. I guarantee the financial ability to have happy holidays and the laughter of children even though father or mother is not there. I am the guardian angel of the home. I am life insurance. This was written quite some time ago about permanent life insurance. The original author is unknown. It is still relevant today and I wanted to share it with everyone. Michael M.
