Dear Parishioners, A NOTE FROM FATHER Our deepest sympathy to the family of Shirley Gostomczik and Terry Lynch family whose father passed. May their souls, and the souls of all the faithful departed rest in peace. Last weekend, Jennifer Schugel-Torres shared about our financial yearend reports for the Church of St. Peter. Despite unexpected costs for the chiller, I am pleased to say that overall, our revenue was up and our expenses were down. This decrease in spending is in large part to our tremendous staff who have challenged themselves to be wise about spending. The increased revenue is because of you as parishioners. THANK YOU!!! The Lord loves a cheerful giver, and as I have been preaching on stewardship these last weeks, our gifts of time, talent, and treasure should be done with gratitude, humility, generosity, trust, justice, love, and service. While it is true that the Church of St. Paul does not struggle as much, our expenses are down there, too, and if I remember correctly, revenue is up from the past. Please continue to give, not because we need it as a parish (though that is true) but because you need it! Stewardship is a large part of being a disciple, and we are striving to be disciples guiding disciples. The more we become stewards, the more free and authentic disciples of the Lord we become. As part of that, I encourage each of us to not only give now, but to remember our parishes and our John Ireland school in your planned giving, especially in your wills. Any and all gifts are appreciated. Another way of doing this is purchasing an annuity or life insurance policy with the Church or school designated as beneficiary. The Knights of Columbus, Catholic United Financial (formerly Catholic Order of Foresters) and a number of other Catholic fraternities are ready and willing to help with this. If there are enough that want more information on how to do this, or even how to go about estate planning, there are a number of people we can invite to speak to us. Let me know. In Christ, Fr. Todd JOHN IRELAND NEWS www.churchofstpeter.org/ji We are a Catholic community welcoming students of all faiths, devoted to Gospel Values, Academic Excellence, and Christian Thank you to all who attended and supported Trunk or Treat! It was a FUN event! 31st Sunday in Ordinary Time 3

This year s theme is. Together We Are One. The DMA offers us an opportunity to do our part to support the ministries that help to build the Church right here in the Diocese of New Ulm - ministries and services that no single parish could provide. Each one of us has been blessed by Go s generosity and for that reason, we have a spiritual need and desire to return some of that blessing back to God. If you are able, please consider becoming a member or continuing a membership in the Bishop s Guild for those who contribute $1,000 or more to the DMA. Need help with your holiday shopping? Order gift cards through John Ireland School s Scrip Program! Stop by the school or parish office for order forms, go online to order, or check next week s bulletin for an order form. Orders are submitted on Fridays at 11, and orders are ready for pick up on Wednesdays. 31st Sunday in Ordinary Time 5
