Knights of Columbus St. Mary Council 4196 Volume 7 Issue 6 February 2017 Brothers and Sir Knights: Feb 5 th will mark are last Pancake Breakfast until the end of the Easter season and beginning March 3, we will start our Lenten Fish Fry s. I m encouraged that several of our newest members have volunteered at our recent Pancake Breakfasts and I hope they and many of you will join us for the Fish Fry s. During Lent, we re encouraged to give up something, or to assist others. Why not join us at one of the Fish Fry s to assist. Lent will also mark another 40 Can s project to benefit the Homeless Vets. The concept is simple you agree to provide 40 cans of food or $40 in cash, I can or $1 for each day in Lent. We ve done very well the last two years and I expect this year to me no exception. Additionally, we need Knights to stand by the shopping carts before and after all the in the gathering space to accept donations and to thank our parishioners for their support. Our Financial Secretary, Don McCabe, would like to step down from his role but is willing to train his successor. Don has served the Council in extraordinary fashion for many years and is considered one of the best if not the best FS in the State. Also, Treasurer Kurt Kovich would like to relinquish his duties. To the best of my knowledge, since beginning his tenure, our checkbook has never been off by even 1C!!!!!! If any of you would be willing to take on either of these rolls, please let me or Trustee Shelley Hays know of your interest. Vivat Jesus!! But did you know that our insurance program is an essential part of the Order? Protecting families from economic adversity has been a key part of the Knights of Columbus mission since its founding in 1882. Our original founders passed the hat to support the widows and children of Brother Knights who had died. We have come a long way since 1882. There is no other company in North America more highly rated than the Knights of Columbus. We now have over $100 billion of individual life insurance in force. We have literally over doubled our size in the last ten years, awesome. We have enjoyed 16 years of sustained growth in membership, insurance in force, asset preservation and company net worth. We have never lost a dime of our member s hard earned money. We have always paid one of the best dividend rates on our Whole Life Insurance and top interest on our Annuity Products in the industry. Our insurance is available exclusively to our members, their wives, and their dependent children. Dave Bailey works fulltime for the Knights of Columbus, serving the needs of you and your family and answering any questions you may have about the Knights of Columbus programs or any other insurance companies policies. If you have any questions about Life Insurance, Annuities, Long Term Care Insurance or Disability Income Insurance, give Dave a call. Don t forget to ask about our new Single Premium Immediate Annuity (SPIA) with many new payout options for retirement. It is an awesome policy for qualified money (IRA, 401k, 403b, 457 and Deferred Compensation Programs). It is also a good income generator for non-qualified money (Savings, CD s, Money Market Funds and Cash in the Tin Can in the Back Yard). We also now have available to our members a KofC Personal Planning Workbook for free. These workbooks cost between $15 to $20 in the open market. In this day and age, personal attention has become rare but in the Knights of Columbus, we specialize in it. In fact, it s our job to get to know you and your family, and to make ourselves available to you for assistance. We are different from other insurers and that difference greatly benefits our members. Give Dave Bailey a call at 951-1492 to find out more about how the K of C has been Protecting Families for Generations. Go to his Web Site at www.kofcagent.com or email him at 9511492@gmail.com. Look to the company you own for the insurance you need. Program Chairmen The following men chair selected events. Please contact them to volunteer, or become their backup.
