An opportunity to join the team at VBC We see, as part of the church s vision, the Spiritual development of children and the wider family. Our aim is to reach entire families, not only children, through the ministry of our children s work. So, we are looking for a Children and Families Worker to oversee this vital ministry. The successful applicant will build on the excellent foundation which has been laid in this area of the church s ministry and be able to develop the work into the future. If you require further information about the job profile and person profile please contact the office for an information pack. Office email: colin.mcmahon@victoriabaptist.org.uk or telephone 01323 737974. Transport is needed to ferry ladies to and from their homes, every Thursday afternoon, to enable them to enjoy Women s Fellowship meetings. Anyone able and willing please contact Church Office, or see Beryl Hancock or Jill McKay if you want further information. And Jam Jars too Could you please bring any empty, clean jam jars into the office as we need them for a craft activity at the Light Party. Thank you. Dear church family Thank you all for your thoughts and prayers over the past weeks, for the flowers so kindly delivered to us and for the loving support we have received. Such a blessing to us both and hugely appreciated. - Kit and Deirdre Dean Advance Notice Sunday November 11th Remembrance Day - only one service at 10.30am All Age Service, including two minutes silence

- Saturday 13th October - Need to refresh your wardrobe for the new season? Look no further than Flow Café on October 13 th where there will be a chance for you to swap some of your clothes for different ones. Bring along any clean clothes in good condition that you don t wear or don t fit any longer and swap them for something someone else doesn t wear anymore for a small donation to charity. This is your chance to revamp your wardrobe for little money, give to charity and help the environment by recycling. It s a win-win situation! Meanwhile, the Creative writing group resumes on the 13th October during Flow Cafe starting at 10.30am in the John Butcher room. The topic will be travel writing/diaries and the guest speaker will be Richard Morgan. All welcome. For more info, please see John Demetriou. - Harvest 2018 - Not long now until our annual Harvest Family celebration. As per previous years you are invited to donate goods towards our local FoodBank appeal. If you have goods to be donated, we recommend you drop these off on Saturday 13th during Flow Café (leave your donations in the welcome centre). As part of our Harvest weekend, we will run a quiz and dinner on Saturday evening. A few spaces are still available, see Erik to book yours. Teams will be made up of 8 people, but you can be added to a group if needed - all in aid of our local FoodBank who will be represented on the night. - CLT - Saturday (13th) is also the closing date for nominations to the Core Leadership Team of the church. Nomination forms can be collected from the church office. And finally, Chris Short is away speaking at a Gideons Conference in Cambridge - so a very busy day for all concerned! - Future Dates - 20 Oct Rebecca Purkiss & Phil Elliston s Wedding, 2pm 31 Oct Light Party 9 Nov Firework Party 14 Nov Riding Lights Theatre Company

REQUEST FOR TRANSPORT FOR THE BULGARIA MISSION TEAM: As you know, our Bulgaria team are off to minister in Kazanlak from 20-29 Oct. However, we need to leave for Gatwick airport during the "night" of Friday 19th. We need to leave Eastbourne at 3am on Saturday 20th,for a 6:15am flight. There are 7 of us travelling: Emma, Pippa, Paula B, Brian, John, Philip and Dave. (Erik and Paula Cornelisse are joining us later in the week). Would any kind volunteers be willing to make a night-time/early morning excursion to Gatwick? We are looking for 2 or 3 drivers who could kindly help in picking up the team from their homes. We also need transport for our return trip. We arrive back into Gatwick on MONDAY 29th at 13:45, so would need collecting at 2pm-ish. If you are willing and able to help with either of these journeys, please e-mail Emma. Thank you. COLLECTING ITEMS FOR BULGARIAN CHILDREN/VULNERABLE PEOPLE: For the next 2 Sundays (7th & 14th) there will be a collection box in the Welcome Centre for any items you wish to contribute for the team to take to those in need in Bulgaria. Suggested items include: Small cuddly toys/teddies/rag dolls, tennis/soft balls, blow up beach balls, packs of balloons, skipping ropes, bubbles, toothbrushes and toothpaste, flannels/sponges and a bar of soap, knitted hats and gloves, new multivitamins (sealed and in date), small bags of sweets (eg Haribo/wrapped chewy sweets, NO chocolate), lightweight colouring books and packs of wax crayons/felt tips/coloured pencils/biros, small packed toys/games (such as bead necklace kit, small lego/brick set, a simple game or something arty/crafty), small toy cars. (Anything we can't use or take due to luggage restrictions may go to Croatia with Mick and Lynn Trott or to charities at home for Christmas). Thank you. These gifts will be a real blessing! PRAYING FOR THE TEAM: An itinerary of the team's daily planned activities will be provided soon for prayer support. Also, please remember team members' spouses and other family members in your prayers. Please also think about how you might support those "left at home" with a phone call, prayer, a visit, errands or trips out during the team's absence. Let's "be family" to those releasing us to go. Please even pray for the safety and well being of our pets (with their various needs/arrangements) and households during our absence! Thank you.
