August Newsletter 2017 KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS PO Box 602, HELOTES, TX 78023 OUR LADY OF GUADALUPE COUNCIL 8306 Council 8306 General Meetings are held the 1 st Wednesday of each month at 7:00pm in the Parish Hall GRAND KNIGHT: Reynaldo Maldonado (MaldonadoTexas@yahoo.com) District Deputy: William R. Torres (williamtorres72@yahoo.com) Deputy Grand Knight: Thad Taubert (THADTAUBERT@ATT.net) Financial Secretary: Hector Torres (kofc@olghelotes.org) Insurance Agent: Richard Barrera (Richard.barrera@kofc.org) Newsletter Editor: George Freund (gtfreund@outlook.com) Knights of Columbus, Council 8306: web address (www.kc-olg.org) Brothers In Christ, Greetings my Brothers In Christ. You Men we Call Knights! Hip Hip Hooray! Congratulations to all our newly appointed officers. We had a great turn out at our installation dinner / scholarship presentation / 40 Cans for Lent Donation Presentation. Before I continue, I want to take a moment to thank all you men along with your wives that donated your time and talents to making our Installation Dinner a success. For the sake of not missing anyone, you all know who you are, and from the bottom of my heart, I thank you. We have had a busy July! I sound like a broken record, seems every month we Knights find ourselves involved in events throughout our church community. This is what we signed up for. We promised you, we would keep you busy. We kept our promise. I know it is nearly impossible to be at every event. As your Grand Knight I try my hardest to make every event, but sometimes that becomes almost as difficult as keeping cool in this Texas heat! Try is all we can do. Be a Knight, Be Involved, when you can. GOD first, family second, all else can follow. The new officers have met and have gone over, created and adjusted our budget. We will present at this coming meeting. Please try to be present. It is a new year for us as Knights, if you haven t been to a meeting in a while, I personally invite you to come. You have been missed. We have new and exciting events coming up. Come and hear what s new. And as a friendly reminder: There is to be no drinking of alcohol during our business meetings. Our meetings are not social gatherings and will not be treated as such. Please read the bulletin, Fr. Carlos and staff make us aware of all events pertaining to our parish. Be a Knight, Be Involved May God Bless You All. VIVAT JESUS! Reynaldo Maldonado, Jr. Grand Knight 1

Financial Secretary Notes: Hello Brothers, please let me know anything that you need or are missing. For Example Name Badges, Membership cards, not receiving emails, etc. I am sorry I was not at the August Council meeting as I was on vacation on a 7-day cruise ship to the Caribbean. The officers have met and completed our new 2017-2018 budget, and it has been emailed out to the membership. Please bring up any questions or concerns at the September 6th Meeting as the budget will be voted on this day. 2017 Membership Dues are past due. If I did not receive your payment by now, you are in the process of being suspended, and documentation has been sent out. If you have been placed on disability and in the past and have had your payment taking care of in the past, please reach out to me as you will not be placed on disability until your paperwork is submitted to Supreme. Please reach out to me if you have any questions or any type of financial difficulty that is not allowing you to pay your membership dues. The last thing we want as a council is to suspend a member, so please communicate with me so it can be avoided. If you no longer wish to be a Knight of Columbus, please send me an email letting me know you wish to resign your membership. Please send payments to Hector Torres-May 1703 N Loop 1604 W, Apt 15308 San Antonio, TX 78258 You can now also pay your dues online at https://squareup.com/store/knights8306. Please make sure your payment comes only directly to me and try to not give your payment to any other brothers including current officers as they will not be responsible if your payment is lost. Also, please do not drop in your payment at the Church Dropbox as that will result in a church donation to Our Lady of Guadalupe. Please make sure you bring your membership card with you to the council meeting. If you have not received your 2017 membership card, please contact me or come see me at the meeting. Again, Please let me know if you have any questions or financial troubles. All matters of financial issues will be handled privately. We say thank you in advance for taking care of your dues in a timely manner. Don't forget that if you attend a minimum of 5 qualifying Council events, you are eligible to receive a free Knights T-shirt paid by the council. If you have already attended the five qualifying events, please send me an email with the events you attended. I will then research the events and order your free t-shirt. Qualifying event examples are Taco Sales, 40 cans events, Cornyval events, Cemetery landscaping, Riggs Road cleanup, etc. Please visit www.kc-olg.org and familiarize yourself with our website.
