The Feast of the Discovery of the True Cross 2. The Dedication of the Church of the Holy Sepulcher 3. The Recovery of the True Cross after its captivity by the Persians When we make the Sign of the Cross we honor the Triune God, Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Think of how many times we make the Sign of the Cross at Mass, including crosses on our foreheads, lips and hearts as we began the proclamation of the Gospel, reminding ourselves that the Spirit of the Gospel needs to live in our minds, be on our lips and be loved in our hearts. Our church is shaped like a cross, a fitting embodiment of the community as the Body of Christ and the place we worship as a community being shaped like the Body of Christ. What role does the cross play in our daily prayer lives? We don't necessarily like to think about sadness, disappointment and suffering, our daily crosses, but it's important to do so in the context of today's celebration. Some of our sufferings are small, almost simply annoyances, some are nearly crushing, some are avoidable and some are not. Our sufferings should be united with Christ's and shared when we gather in worship. Not that everyone needs to know our business, some of our crosses show and some don't, but that we all realize we lighten each other's burdens by gathering a parish of people who have a context for not only the joys and blessings in our lives, but also our sufferings. Hospitality Sunday All are invited to join us at our Parish Feast Day Hospitality Sunday in the St. Joseph Room following the 10:30 AM Mass. Holy Cross On Catholic Radio This Sunday, the Holy Cross 12 Noon Mass will be broadcast by WJFS 89.3, as we celebrate The Feast of the Holy Cross!
