These gifts will go to Heifer International whose mission is to work with communities to end hunger and poverty and care for the earth. By giving families a hand-up, not just a hand-out, the Heifer Project empowers them to turn lives of hunger and poverty into self-reliance and hope. With gifts of livestock and training, Heifer Projects help families improve their nutrition and generate income in sustainable ways.
Annual Conference begins Friday, June 17 and concludes Sunday, June 19. Please keep Pastor Reaves and Tina Lauber (Lay Member from FCUMC) in your prayers during Annual Conference. Guest Speaker on Sunday, June 19: Mr. Matthew L. Wagner, the Area 12 Director of the Virginia Association of the Gideons International will speak at both services and share the ministry of the Gideons International. A love offering will be taken to help purchase Bibles to be distributed all over the world. Abundance Orchard: Where Faith Grows and Hungry People Are Fed is our theme for Vacation Bible School at Fairview Beach: Our VBS will take place from Sunday, July 10 through Thursday, July 14 (6:00 8:00pm). A simple dinner is served each evening. A Bible story and lesson is shared. We sing and teach songs. Games and crafts are offered. We will need volunteers to help with food, music, crafts, and games each evening. A minimum of five adults will be needed each day and our youth are encouraged to help as well. Kits For Conference: Kits are being collected to replenish the UMCOR supply. Copies of the instruction for assembling the kits are listed in the flyer on the table in the sanctuary entrance. Annual Conference Offering: This year s Annual Conference Offering will benefit the Methodist Mission in Cambodia, the Methodist Church of Brazil, Tornado Relief in Virginia, and for training Laity in Mozambique. To contribute please indicate on your check or contribution Annual Conference Offering. Please refer to the flyer on the table in the entrance for more information.
