Gary and Seminarian Joe Moynahan Parish Mission Statement Rooted in the Word, nourished by the Eucharist, and strengthened by the sacraments, Corpus Christi Parish is a vibrant, welcoming Catholic community of many parts united in the one Body of Christ. Seeking to reflect the unconditional love and embrace of Christ, we strive to live out our baptismal call as disciples and enthusiastic witnesses to our faith.

The Pastor s Musings The Week at a Glance Dear Family in the Lord, As these days of summer unfold, even with various pressing needs, I am trying to heed the advice Jesus gives to His disciples, and to us, in the Gospel today (Mark 6:30-34): Come away by yourself to a deserted place and rest awhile. It certainly was not a deserted place, but the four-day Scripture Institute, sponsored by the St. Paul Center and held at a beautiful resort location in West Virginia, was an opportunity to rest, to go deeper in my exploration of scripture - both for myself and to enrich my preaching efforts for you - and to spend quiet time in deepening my relationship with the Lord in opportunities for personal and communal prayer with priests from all over the United States. As I serve the many needs that are brought to me day in and day out here, I know how essential it is to go apart with dedicated time for prayer and focus each day. I urge you to use these days of summer to capture some time to really rest - to rest in the Lord and with Him - to go deeper! All of us, called to ongoing conversion, can experience the many graces that flow from this rootedness and stable connection with the Lord in what can be a frantic and hectic pace. Even Summer, for some, can come and go without real body and soul rest and renewal! Different stuff is substituted for the regular stuff of the rest of the year, but nothing really pauses, ponders, goes deeper. It s more than half past! Let s capture some restful opportunities! In a wonderful book, Father Donald Haggerty puts the reason for all this quite succinctly and well: A conversion is not just a change of lifestyle. The new recognition of God infuses strong desires in our soul that God should be known by others as we have come to know Him. A kind of missionary zeal for souls can take hold of our heart and enter into our impulses with other people. We should like to see conversions spread contagiously among our contacts with people...and a zeal for souls as we continue life is essential to a love for souls." We seek that zeal described in the Gospel account of Jesus reaction to those around Him. If we encounter, deepen, stay rooted, and allow the Lord to fan our sparks into flame, then we, among our family members, friends, coworkers and all we encounter, will manifest a joy that comes from those who know Him, who are refreshed in Him, and who reveal His care in their outstretched arms, and His love in their open hearts. It s no secret that many are searching. They are looking in all the wrong places and accepting poor substitutes, easy escapes, passing pleasures, instead of discovering real lasting joy, and the peace that the world cannot give. Indeed, we still have those around us who can be described as those in the gospel today: like sheep without a shepherd. May our response be that of Jesus, and so moved, may we teach them by the witness and authenticity, the values, and priorities of our lives! Sixteenth Sunday of Ordinary Time UPCOMING NEEDS FOR TIME & TALENT In coming months we will be exploring various things. Please look through the list below, and if you have particular talent/skill/background that could benefit our parish efforts in any of these areas, please send an email to Fr. Gary at frgary.ccnh@gmail.com and tell him about it. As summer winds down in early September, he would like to gather these various focus groups to explore possibilities. Not a commitment at this point, just info gathering about your gifts and your potential interest! We are blest by so many gifts in such diversity within our parish presently, and the unity created from the diversity is coming from our desire to build His Kingdom, deepen our relationships with the Lord and one another, go deeper, and be ever more effectively who He calls us to be here on NH s seacoast. Restoration Committee: Artists, Interior Decorators, those with Historic Preservation and/or Landscaping backgrounds (restoration of church/grounds) Development Committee: Strategic planning for campaign for any additional funding needed to complete multiphase process of parish building, repurposing and restoration (background in finances, capital campaigns, etc.) Healing Ministry: developing opportunities to form Prayer Groups, occasions for healing prayer (background in charismatic ministry/healing ministry) Communication & Evangelization: advertising, videography, website enhancement, creative outreach Visioning Committee: to set goals for future of parish efforts and movement Prayerfully consider your gifts! Step forward! Let s explore further together and embrace our future full of hope! Spiritual Gifts Would you like to prayerfully remember a departed loved one, maybe on their anniversary of death or birthday? Or, maybe remember and ask birthday blessings for a relative or friend who is living, or pray for healing of illness, or remember a wedding anniversary or other significant day? You could do this in some of the following ways as a spiritual gift for them in the House of the Lord! Have the Sanctuary Lamp burn for the intention for a week (Offering: $15/week) Have the two votive candles burn for a week at the altar of St. Joseph or our Lady (Offering: $10/week) Have flowers adorn the high altar for a week (two bouquets for $100) Contact Mary Kay in our office if you would like to reserve a date now. These, like the Mass Intentions, fill up quickly. She has some cards you can send to one who is living telling them of the spiritual gift you are offering for them.

Parish News Recently Baptized NEW! We warmly welcome Gabrielle Clark, who was given new life through water and the Holy Spirit in our parish community! To her parents and godparents we extend our congratulations and prayerful support as they live out the commitment they made to be the first teachers of these children in the ways of faith. In the words of the rite, may they be the best of teachers, bearing witness to the faith in what they say and do. Wedding Bells! NEW! Next weekend, Emily Love & Mark Sakelakos, Mary Terese Cejka & Matthew Cunningham, and Colleen O Leary & David Ovecka will pledge life and love in the sacrament of Marriage in our parish. We extend our congratulations and prayerful best wishes to them! May He who brought you together bless you in abundance in the years ahead as you live out this wonderful vocation. Called Home to the Lord NEW! We remember in prayer the repose of the souls of MaryAnn Poore, Helen Hagan, and Ray LaMontagne, whose Funeral Masses were recently celebrated in our parish. We also remember in prayer the souls of Frank Cavallaro, brother of parishioner Mary Lou Guerra, and Ronald Baruffi, brother of parishioner Maggie Stoltz. To their families we extend our heartfelt sympathy and prayerful support as well. NEW! Frassati Fraternity Just a reminder that we will not gather in July, but will resume monthly gatherings for faith enrichment and fellowship on Thursday, August 23rd. Watch for more via email about a couple of summer activities in the works. Any guys in 20s or 30s are welcome to any or all events sponsored by the Frassati Fraternity in our parish. Simply email Fr. Gary if you d like to be added to our email announcement list - frgary.ccnh@gmail.com. Want To Be An Altar Server? We are blest with an outstanding crew of altar servers! Want to be part of this service of Jesus, His priest, and our community at worship? Any boy or girl who will be entering 4th grade or higher this Fall is invited! Simply call in the name, parent contact email, and phone number to Mary Kay in our office. You will be contacted by John St. Pierre, the Director of our Servers, to set up training time. At that time he will ask for Mass time of preference, etc. As things slow up a bit, the summer is a great time to be trained. John does each training personally, working out dates and times that work best for each potential server and the family. Encourage your kids, folks! It s a great way to enter into the Mass more fully and understand it more profoundly. John teaches the why, not just the what! NEW! Spanish Mass Since Father Brian will be going away on a Mission trip to the Dominican Republic, there will not be a Spanish Mass here at 2:00 PM on Sunday, August 5th. Each Fall we present a series of informal, no obligation, Inquiry Sessions as a kick off to the RCIA - the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults - a process through which adults can explore the Catholic faith. It s for those who were never baptized, for those who were baptized but not brought up in the faith (perhaps never making first Communion and/or Confirmation), and for those who were baptized in another Christian denomination. After the inquiry Come & See sessions, participants can discern further exploration and enter the ongoing process of prayer, reflection, and teaching that can lead to being fully initiated in the Church at Easter. You? Someone you know? A friend, family member, or spouse? Flyers in racks at church doors have more details and the date of an Intro Info gathering coming up at 6:30 PM on Thursday, August 16th. Take one, or more! Read through! Pass on! Offer to come with someone! If you or they would like to sit down informally with Fr. Gary or Brenda, who coordinates this process, feel free to email or call to set something up. Fr. Gary can be reached at frgary.ccnh@gmail.com or 436-4555, ext 125, and Brenda at the same number, ext. 120, or faithformdir.ccnh@gmail.com. Please let her know if you are planning to come on August 16th for info night. New 20/20 Series! The next 20/20 Raffle series will begin in September. Tickets cost $20 each and are good for 20 weeks. Each Sunday for 19 weeks, we draw two numbers to win $25 each. On the 20th week is the final drawing, with prizes of $500, $300, two at $100, and two at $50. Tickets for the next 20/20 series are available after Masses in the coming weekends or during the week at the parish office, 436-4555.
