A NOTE FROM FATHER Dear Parishioners, Thank you to all who attended and helped with the Healing Mass presided by Bishop LeVoir on the 7th. It was a prayerful experience, and I was happy that we could host it here. On Friday this past week, I offered a Mass with the intention of reparation of sins. Because of all that is going on in our world, with accusations flying left and right, and few in positions of authority not being transparent and honest, I think that this is a good practice to continue. I will offer a Mass with this intention once a month, and I encourage you to join me. I am seeing some other interesting responses to the abuse and cover-up. One is a request to return" to Fridays as a day of penance. While the Church never moved away, officially stating that this should continue, it no longer required abstaining from meat. Perhaps it would be good to return to this practice. Certainly fasting, prayer, and almsgiving is appropriate on Fridays as well. Some parishes, and even whole Dioceses are reciting the St. Michael Prayer following Mass. Liturgically speaking, that should be directed by the bishop, but certainly privately, asking St. Michael s intercession and intervention in the spiritual entities that would seek our ruin is never a bad thing. Because of this, I include the St. Michael prayer for your private use. St. Michael the Archangel, defend us in battle. Be our defense against the wickedness and snares of the Devil. May God rebuke him, we humbly pray, and do thou, O Prince of the heavenly hosts, by the power of God, thrust into hell Satan, and all the evil spirits, who prowl about the world seeking the ruin of souls. Amen. ~ In Christ, Fr. From Bishop John M. LeVoir From September 9 through 20, I am leading a pilgrimage to the Holy Land and will dedicate this pilgrimage to the healing of the wounds of sexual abuse. As a member of the Church hierarchy, I will do prayer, fasting and penance in the Holy Land at all of the holy sites, especially at the Church of the Holy Sepulcher in Jerusalem (Monday, September 17). It is this church that houses both the site of the crucifixion of Christ and the site of His resurrection. The laity did not cause this scandal in the Church and they have every right to be angry and disheartened. However, I would ask that in solidarity they join with me in prayer, fasting and penance from September 9 through 20 asking Our Lord for healing of the wounds caused by the sexual abuse perpetrated by clergy and the negligence of the hierarchy to stop such abuse. God bless you!

Anyone that makes double ($500) then they will receive two pies in the face. In response to Mary Healy's presentation at the Bishop Lucker Lecture this spring, our parish is starting a Healing Ministry for lay people to pray for healing over others. Jesus says "These signs will accompany those who believe: in my name they will drive out demons, they will speak new languages. They will pick up serpents [with their hands], and if they drink any deadly thing, it will not harm them. They will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover. - Mark 16:17-18. Deacon Mike McKeown (from the office of Healing Ministry at the Diocese of New Ulm) has trained some of our parishioners how to pray for this type of healing. What has the Lord healed through intercessory prayer for healing? Chronic pain, degenerative eyesight, broken bones, trigger finger, lower back pain, color blindness, knee pain, headaches, etc... This ministry is mainly focusing on physical healing. Does everyone get healed? Sometimes God gives physical healing and sometimes He gives inner peace and healing. Jesus sometimes chooses to heal physical problems and sometimes He doesn't, but we do know that we are more likely to see healing if we ask for healing. When is the Healing Ministry Team available? We will have teams available once a month after the Saturday evening Mass and after most Sunday morning Masses. Teams will be available in the chapel after Mass. Listen to the announcements before Mass to know if a team is available after Mass. What does the prayer consist of? The team will ask you a few questions about what you need healed, then they will pray over you. Then they will ask you to test to see if the condition is still there. If there is some improvement, they may continue to pray some more as time allows. This usually takes 5-10 minutes total. How do I ask for prayers? Just stop in the chapel after Mass and they will be ready to pray with you. You can also contact Mary Grack at the parish office and she can arrange a few prayer team members to pray with you if you cannot meet after Mass. 24th Sunday in Ordinary Time 5

Monday Bible Study The Monday Morning Bible Study is a great group of people who gather to study scripture, develop friendships and pray. We are not great scripture scholars but just people who have an interest in learning more about the Word of God, and in that process, share with everyone how God has helped us in our daily lives. In the process of conversation, needs for prayer arise and in closing our sessions, we pray for those needs. One week we will study from our book on St. Paul s letter to the Romans and the next week we will take a look at the upcoming Sunday readings. We are a group open to anyone who would like to join us or just check us out. We meet on Mondays from 9:00 to 10:30am. We will start the study on September 17th, breaking for the Holidays and start back up in January through mid May. Please join us! We will meet in the Family Room, enter through the parish office.
