Our Lady Queen of Peace Church, Hainesport, New Jersey Page 3-565 Message from the Padre Trinity April 8, 2018 Our Lady Queen of Peace Church, Hainesport, New Jersey Page 3-565 This weekend we are celebrating Trinity Sunday, officially called The Solemnity of the Most Holy Trinity. The doctrine of the Trinity is one of the most important teachings of the church. So important that each year the Sunday after Pentecost is set aside as Trinity Sunday to give importance to the symbolic unity of the Triune God: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. M y dear friends, over the past two thousand years, many have tried to explain the mystery of the Blessed Trinity, but all have tried without success. It appears that this mystery is the greatest of all mysteries within the Christian Church. But even though it is a mystery, it is a living reality and the center of our Christian faith because it does not only described the nature of God, but it also shows the wonderful relationship of God with us and all His creation. The Catechism of the Catholic Church (#234) states that: The mystery of the Most Holy Trinity is the central mystery of Christian faith and life. It is the mystery of God in Himself. It is therefore the source of all the other mysteries of faith, the light that enlightens them. It is the most fundamental and essential teaching in the hierarchy of the truths of faith. The whole history of salvation is identical by which the one true God, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, reveals Himself to men. The Trinity is therefore the truth beneath, within, and beyond all truth. He is the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit who is everything that is, ever was, and ever will be. M y dear brothers and sisters, it is true that we may never be able to wrap our minds around the mystery of the Blessed Trinity, but it is a living reality that gives us a glimpse into the true meaning of life the life through our human experience as believers and followers of Christ. Have you received all your Sacraments? Deuteronomy 4: 32-34, 39-40 Romans 8: 14-17, Matthew 28: 16-20 Today s readings marvel at how fortunate we are to be in a relationship with God. In the first reading, Moses enumerates all the wonderful things that God has done for them, from creation to the rescue from Egypt, to the gift of the Promised Land, Saint Paul writes that we are God s sons and daughters by adoption. Finally, in the last line of Matthew s Gospel, Jesus tells his disciples, I am with you always, until the end of the age. DeLuca John Knapp Have circumstances prevented you from receiving your Sacraments? Maybe you never had the opportunity to receive the Sacraments of Baptism, First Communion or Confirmation. Perhaps you or one of your loved ones have considered becoming a Catholic but were not sure how to get started. Were you married outside the Church and would like to have your marriage convalidated with the Sacrament of Marriage? Do you need help or information on obtaining an annulment? For more information regarding any of the above, please contact Deacon Leo at 609-267-0230 ext. 19. Feast of Mary, Mother of the Church Last weekend we celebrated a new feast day, Mary, Mother of the Church. The feast, which was decreed by Pope Francis in March, is celebrated on the Monday after Pentecost. According to the decree, the Pope approved the Marian feast day after having attentively considered how greatly the promotion of this devotion might encourage the growth of the maternal sense of the Church in the pastors, religious and faithful, as well as a growth of genuine Marian piety. In his homily the Pope reflected on the need for the Church to maintain its feminine nature as wife and mother, like Mary. Like a mother, the Church also goes along the path of tenderness and knows how to convey wisdom through the language of caresses, of silence, of the gaze that knows compassion. All Christians in some way are called to go along the same path, being someone who is gentle tender, smiling, full of love.
