Blue Mass - September 16 First responders are invited to the 2018 Blue Mass to be celebrated at the Cathedral Basilica of Saint Louis on Sunday, September 16, 2018 at 10:00 a.m., followed by a recep on at Boland Hall. We invite all first responders to wear uniforms, gather ahead of me in front of the Cathedral Basilica and process into the Cathedral at the beginning of the Mass. Special prayers will be offered for our first responders, and they will be recognized during the Mass. The Blue Mass gets its name from the blue uniforms worn by so many public safety personnel. Ministry of the Month: Stephen Ministry The name Stephen Ministry comes from St. Stephen, who was the first layperson commissioned by the Apostles to provide caring ministry to those in need. There are more than 7,000 congrega ons enrolled in the Stephen Series, represen ng more than 90 different Chris an denomina ons and come from all 50 states, 9 Canadian provinces, and 18 other countries. More than 37,000 individuals have been trained as Stephen Leaders. These Stephen Leaders have returned to their congrega on to train over 300,000 laypersons to be Stephen Ministers. It is es mated that since 1975 Stephen Ministers have provided dis nc vely Chris an care to well over half a million people through formalized one-to-one caring rela onships and have used their caregiving skills to touch the lives of millions of others in an informal way. Stephen Ministry came to Holy Infant in 2004. During the past thirteen years almost 100 men and women from Holy Infant have each received 50 hours of training and haven given care to countless numbers of people.
