FIFTEENTH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME July 15, 2018 Most Reverend Edward K. Braxton Bishop of Belleville We, the people of St. Clare Catholic Parish, In the Diocese of Belleville, are called by God in baptism to be disciples of Jesus Christ. Centered in the Eucharist, and strengthened by the gifts of the Holy Spirit, we strive to live the Gospel and further the reign of God. We do this by creating a vibrant faith community, by actively promoting justice and evangelization, and by using our gifts in the service of God s people, to give God glory and reverence all of Creation. From Our Pastor, Fr. Jim... Honoring Our Parish s Faithful Servants While I have been on sick leave for the past few weeks, I have used part of the time to reflect on and pray for all of our parishioners who remain so faithful week after week -volunteering, giving financial support, and committed to weekly Sunday Mass. For those who are new to the parish, this will be visible to you and I look forward to meeting you and witnessing your own faithfulness. Our parish highlights two of our parishioners who have been particularly faithful in serving the Lord: Deacon Dennis Vander Ven and his wife Debbie. Next weekend, we celebrate Deacon Dennis 10 th anniversary as a deacon and serving at St. Clare Parish. While in the past year, Deacon Dennis has not been as visible at Mass due to health conditions, he has continued serving our parish in the areas of Baptism and Wedding Sacraments, Parish School of Religion special events, leading Stations of the Cross and prayer services, visiting the sick, weekly staff meetings, and other works of charity. His wife Debbie humbly serves at his side helping wherever needed. We will honor them next weekend at the two Sunday Masses and have donuts and coffee after Mass for you to stop by and thank them. On another note.health Update: I got home from the hospital this past Monday and all is going very well as I mostly work on regaining strength in my legs and letting the interior incisions completely heal. The good news is that the doctor is very pleased with how well things are going. The challenge for me is continued patience as I am required to stay home and rest for two more weeks.and another four weeks until I am out of the danger zone of the disc wound reopening. I met with the staff this week at my home and starting to do some simple desk work since I actually need to be up and moving between periods of rest. Your prayers are working miracles in my body, mind, and spirit! I am still working out the details of when I will be back to celebrating Mass with you, but I am with you in Spirit every moment! God s Peace be with you, Fr. Jim Deiters Recent Deaths: David Birchem, Father of Bryan (Mary) Birchem Dwain Schrader, Husband of Mary Anne (Fair) Schrader May they rest in the peace and love of Christ.
