Psalm The Lord has revealed to the nations his saving power (Psalm 98). Second Reading Let us love one another, because love is of God (1 John 4:7-10) or 1 John 4:11-16. Gospel This is my commandment: love one another as I love you (John 15:9-17) or John 17:11b-19. LOVE ONE ANOTHER In the Gospel for the Sixth Sunday of Easter we are met with an extraordinary challenge: Jesus commands us to love one another as I love you (John 15:12). The letter from John echoes this command. Of course, we are to love those in our family, those we work with, those we like. But the scriptures make clear that we are also to love those we never notice, those we purposely avoid, and even those we are tempted to despise. In this Sunday s selection from the Acts of the Apostles Peter shows us how far God s love extends, and how far our love should extend in response. Peter realizes that God no longer shows partiality to the Jews, sharing divine love exclusively with them. Christ has revealed that God s love extends to all people, and so should ours. Copyright J. Pope Francis Stars in New Film Pope Francis is coming to America! Perhaps not in person, but at least in a one-of-a-kind new movie coproduced and endorsed by the Vatican. Pope Francis - A Man of His Word will open in theaters nationwide on May 18, 2018. Running Time 92 minutes. Wim Wenders new documentary is intended to be a personal journey with Pope Francis, as he sets out to present his work of reform and his answers to today s global questions. From his deep concern for the poor, to his involvement in environmental issues and social justice, Pope Francis engages the audience face-to-face in a way never seen before. The Vatican has said, The film masterfully shares the tenderness, humanity, and revolutionary thinking of Pope Francis, and shows that he is a man who practices what he preaches. There has never been a better way to get to know Pope Francis, and appreciate the beauty of our faith. Pope Francis makes our Catholic faith shine, and this beautiful movie shows us why Francis has become the most popular and beloved pope of our era. The Good Timers of MBS certainly had a Good Time on their field trip recently! They visited Fr. Phil s old stomping grounds of Ascension Church in Donaldsonville then enjoyed lunch at Houmas House.
