Tony Herold ALLELUIA! JESUS CHRIST HAS RISEN FROM THE DEAD! Easter is about new life and freedom for all of God s children. Below are some quotes and anecdotes that speak about the Easter message enjoy! ************* Do not abandon yourselves to despair. We are the Easter people and hallelujah is our song. ~ Pope John Paul II And he departed from our sight that we might return to our heart, and there find Him. For He departed, and behold, He is here. ~ St. Augustine ************* In one of his lighter moments, Benjamin Franklin penned his own epitaph. Franklin didn't profess to be an orthodox Christian; he was more a deist, a believer in a clock-maker God, who made the universe and has left it alone. But it seems he must have been influenced by the Church's teaching of the resurrection. Here's the epitaph he wrote for himself: "The body of B. Franklin, printer, like the cover of an old book its contents torn out, and stripped of its lettering and gilding, lies here, food for worms, but the work shall not be wholly lost: For it will, as he believ'd, appear once more in a new & more perfect edition, corrected and amended by the author." *********** If Easter says anything at all to us it is that Jesus will always be with us. The pyramids of Egypt are famous because they contained the mummified bodies of ancient Egyptian kings. Westminster Abbey in London is renowned, because in it rests the bodies of English nobles and notables. Mohammed's tomb is noted for the stone coffin and the bones it contains. Arlington cemetery in Washington, D.C., is revered, for it is the honored resting place of many outstanding Americans. The Holy Sepulcher, Jesus tomb is famous because it is empty! ************* Next year Easter 2018 will be celebrated on April First no fooling! When we gather for Easter next year our Church will be newly renovated: new pews, new floors, new lighting, new sound system, new font, new paint, and renovated sanctuary. We look forward to all that will be transformed both in this building and in our lives during the next year! School Principal Julie Delaney, 322-2923 Email: julie.delaney@st-paul.pvt.k12.ia.us Parish Prayer Chain Jean Jackson (563) 324-4042 QUESTIONS BASED ON OUR READINGS One of Paul s last directives (Colossians 3:15) is to let the peace of Christ control our hearts. How do you do that if you re feeling confused or paralyzed with fear, or depressed? Where did the disciples find help obtaining peace? Is their source available to you?

The mission of Drug Court is to give addicted offenders an intensive and holistic opportunity to recover from their addictions and avoid continued involvement in crimes. It generally takes 15 to 24 months to successfully graduate. The participants are required to frequently report to the judge how they have progressed since their previous appearance. During a recent hearing one young man reported, "I never remember being without drugs until I got in this program and now I know what freedom is." There have been no funds to provide recognition when a participant completes the program and they do want to celebrate this accomplishment.
