Hello, Thirteenth Sunday in Ordinary Time July 2, 2017 You might have noticed some work going around the parish facilities so I figured I would give you an update on what is happening. For a while now we have had work being done on the stone wall around the church area, going along Maryland and in the front of the church on Meramec. This has been some desperately needed tuck-pointing and repairs to the wall that have been needed. The big project that began this week and will be going for the next few weeks is a new roof on the rectory. Not only could you see looking at the roof that the slates were definitely aged, but both Fr. Schaab and I could tell you from inside that something needed to be done whenever it rained. After the roofing is done we will be having the parking lot resurfaced and restriped. If you have any bright ideas of how we may better lay out some of the parking spaces or if there is a real need for more handicapped parking spaces let me know now before we put down the new lines. All of this work is being paid for by the generous donations that were made to the Beyond Sunday campaign. We have other projects yet to come but these were some of the first that needed to be done to prevent the faults in the stone wall or roof from causing other problems. That s about all I have to say for this week other then have a Happy Fourth of July and hopefully we keep these relatively mild temperatures, not only does it make the outdoor celebrations more hospitable and keep the air conditioning costs down, but I m sure the roofers and asphalt workers appreciate it even more than I do. Did you know that demographic studies estimate that more than 1/3 of all Catholics are NOT registered in a parish? If you are not registered in our parish, please consider doing so. Also, please encourage your friends and family to register. Registering is important because: If a parish doesn t know who is out there, how can it adequately serve the needs of all especially singles, divorced or young families who may not see the need to register? When the services of the Church are needed, such as for a wedding, baptism or funeral it is easier if the person is already registered. Registering is easy. Simply call the Rectory, Monday Friday, 8:30 4:00 and we will take the information over the phone! (314-726-1221) We look forward to welcoming all Catholics in our area as registered members Saturday, July 8 8:00 am Poor Souls 5:00 pm Jim David Sunday, July 9 Fourteenth Sunday in Ordinary Time 7:30 am St Joseph Parishioners 9:00 am Adoracion Sygan 11:00 am Marilyn Kastenholz

Children's Liturgy During 11am Mass We are still having Children's Liturgy throughout the summer for children in 2nd grade and under. Come to Mass as a family and during the Liturgy of the Word the kids can hear the readings on their own level. WE NEED HELP! The gardens around St. Joseph s are so beautiful. It takes constant care to remain that way. Will you help us? We have divided the different areas of the garden into very manageable pieces which requires a little weeding on a regular basis. Watering is not necessary since we have a sprinkler system. We are asking for anyone who has some time to help with weeding to please contact Thom or Ann Schwetye. We will weed most Wednesdays and Thursdays after work from about 4:30 to 5:30 if you would like to join us at that time. If you choose to weed a small section on your own timeframe please just let us know and you can choose your spot. We are asking for just a small portion of your time---whatever time you can give is appreciated. Thanks for all who help now and have helped in the past!
