October 16, 2016 29th Sunday in Ordinary Time First Annual Pax Christi s Got Talent Show When: October 15 th after 5:00 Mass Where: The Great Hall Come and experience singing, dancing and comedy provided by the parishioners, ages 7 to adult, who join you at Mass every weekend. Special appearance by Simon and Garfunkel (for all of you Baby Boomers). Beer, wine, brats, hamburgers and hot dogs will be served. Please bring a side dish to share. Your donations at this event will benefit the newly established Pax Christi Children s Schola and the Music Ministry. A Day of Reflection: In All Things to Love and Serve Saturday, October 29 th from 9:00 a.m. 4:00 p.m. Join Deacon Tom Sandusky as we explore and pray about what it means for us "to serve." Too often we think of service as getting things done, or as a job accomplished. However, if we use a reflective approach to the gospels, we begin to see how expansive the notion of "to serve" is as Jesus would indicate to us. Together, we will explore through gospel contemplations all the richness involved in the experience "to serve", centered on the theme "in all things to love and to serve." Cost is $15.00 per person and includes lunch. Contact Deacon Tom at tsandusky@paxchristi.org with questions or to register. Welcoming Catholics Home A new ministry at Pax Christi for anyone who has been away from the Church, thinking about returning, and would like some help getting started or continuing the journey. Come by yourself or with a family member or a friend all are invited to take another look at the Catholic Church! Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will enter his house and dine with him, and he with me. Rev. 3:20 Rosary and Litany of the Blessed Virgin Mary Parishioner, Mary Lou Matz, will have the statue of our Blessed Mother in her home from October 15th through October 21st. The Litany of the Blessed Virgin Mary will be held each day at 2:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. followed by the Rosary. All are welcome to come, so please invite your family and friends. What s Happening at Our Parish DRESS GUIDELINES IN CHURCH When attending Mass, we ask that everyone dress in a way that respects our Lord, truly present, as well as respecting your neighbor. It is not appropriate to come to the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass dressed as through going to the beach, golf course or sporting event. Please wear clothing that is modest and appropriate. And as helpful guidelines for that purpose, please avoid the following: short skirts, dresses and shorts ~ bare midriffs ~ sports jerseys tight/overly baggy fitting clothing ~ yoga pants ~ torn/sagging jeans flip flops ~ low cut and/or backless tops and dresses ~ hats No bare shoulders, such as: men/women s tank tops ~ halter tops ~ tops with spaghetti straps Remember, because how we dress affects ourselves and others, our dress should never cause distraction in the Mass. When we gather for worship, this sacred event should generate within us a sense of "awe and reverence". God cares about our hearts, and what we wear is often an expression of our hearts. Everyone is welcome at Pax Christi, but we ask that your dress reflects our respect for our Lord and each other. Thank you. 5th Sunday Rosary To help bring parishioners together in a spiritual activity and promote devotion to Mary, the Pax Christi Assembly #3353 of the Knights of Columbus is beginning a new church activity, the 5th Sunday Rosary. Parishioners are encouraged to pray the rosary as a parish family every time a 5th Sunday occurs during a month. The first rosary will be held on Sunday October 30th starting at 4:30 pm (before 5:00 pm Mass). The next several will be held January 29, 2017 and April 30, 2017. Please join the Knights and your parish family in this simple but powerful means of expressing our Catholic faith and improving our individual prayer lives. Dear God, Respect Life Prayer We see life cheapened every day through abortion and other forms of abuse, through terrorism, and other acts of violence, and through neglect of children, the poor, and the elderly. In a world of plenty, we can forget that there is nothing more precious than human life. Give us the grace to see how we can make a difference, and encourage change in our culture. When we are discouraged, remind us of the Catholic monk Telemachus who stopped the gladiator games with an act of charity. Inspire us with the stories of Mary and other mothers of unexpected pregnancies, who knew that every child is a gift of God's grace and is wanted by you in this world. Encourage conviction in the hearts of those who do not yet know or understand that a desire for choice is no reason to end any life and that you desire that all life come only to a natural end in you. Amen. Pax Christi Catholic Church -3- Littleton, CO

Michael Gaitley and the Augustine Institute. We meet on Fridays 6:00-7:15 a.m. or Saturdays 7:30-8:45 a.m. in the Great Hall.
