Saint John the Baptist Council 11106 Words from the Grand Knight - First Summer Edition 2015 We must start this new Fraternal Year with a celebration. Under the very capable leadership of our Immediate Past Grand Knight Bill Legato the Council flourished. We welcomed new members, raised record funds for charity, enjoyed wonderful fellowship with Brothers and Lovely Ladies and produced new program activities that focused on the important needs of the community, Church, family and Council. We can be satisfied that the Council is certainly better for the successes of the Fraternal Year 2014-2015 under Bill s outstanding dedication, energy and leadership. We owe him a huge Thank You and debt of gratitude and appreciation. Tell him so next time you meet. We have been strengthened by the addition of new men to the Order. Since April, seven men have joined the Council. We congratulate them for choosing to join the largest Catholic family organization on the planet. We are excited to report that on May 29 th seven men advanced to the Third Degree of the Order: Rob Farrell, Noel Gregos, Mario Jean, Ray Lombardo, Julian McConnie, Brian Murphy and Alan Wolcott. We look forward to sharing a wonderful Knight s experience with for many years. In Charity, Unity, Fraternity- Andy Andrew Michaels Grand Knight 301-388-2305 GrandKnight11106@gmail.com

A Message from our District Deputy - Where Has the Year Gone? Where has the time gone? Have we used it wisely? I must ask everyone to keep up their recruitment efforts. We still need to grow the order. Take a moment to ask yourselves: Have I asked one Catholic gentleman to join the order each month? As we start the new fraternal year, please ask yourself, Is this the year I become more involved with the Council and its activities? We are the best kept secret in Silver Spring. A great bunch of guys and gals doing incredible amounts of charitable work, with many social activities. Tempus Fugit, Memento Mori (Time Flies, Remember Death). Debbie and I wish everyone a safe and happy summer. Our proposed Budget, look it over and suggest the changes you feel will better reflect our program activities this coming year. When you have a minute, stop your busy schedule and make this prayer, A Prayer for the Nation Our Father, you chose Mary as the fairest of your daughters. Holy Spirit, you chose her as your spouse. God the Son, you chose her as your Mother. We put the United States into Mary Immaculate s hands that she may present the country to you, our God. We thank you for the great resources of this land and for the freedom which has been its heritage. Through her intercession, grant us and all nations your peace. Inspire our President and all the officials of our government to serve us with integrity. Grant us a fruitful economy born of justice and charity. Mary, our Mother and patroness of our land, we give ourselves to you. Pray that we, always acting according to the divine will may live and die pleasing in God s sight. Amen While we are at prayer, let s not forget our priests. Join the Prayer Apostolate for Priests by praying each day using the Archdiocese of Washington Prayer Calendar. This year we look forward to a very full year of interesting opportunities. With everyone working together in close fraternity we can become the instruments of charity needed by our neighbors and strong supporters of the Church. Pray that we will always know God s Will for us and have the strength to carry it out. July 2015 1 All Bishops 2 Msgr Kazista 3 Rev Keffer 4 Rev Kelley 5 Rev Kemp 6 Rev Kennealy 7 Rev J.
