Knight News Granite City Council 1098 Assembly 0224 September 2016 ep A Word From the Grand Knight Greetings Knights and Sir Knights. With summer coming to a close, I hope everyone had a great one. Schools will be in session, which means students and buses will be on the road in full force. Watch out for them as they watch us, remember they are our future Knight s and Ladies Auxiliary. Grand Knight Dwayne Saul Faithful Navigator Elmer Long Ladies Auxiliary Cheryl Moe Columbus Home Walter Bruch The council s installation dinner was August 13 and went off without any problems. Thanks again to District Deputy Sam and Father Bob for their help with the ceremony. I also want to thank Jerry Calentine for his year as Grand Knight, and new Grand Knight John Ansley from Troy council (9266) and his officers and families for joining us that night. Mothers, our caterer came thru once again with some great food. Congratulations to all of you. September is going to be a busy month so please get involved wherever you can. The Labor Day parade will be September 5 th, if you would like to ride or walk please stay tuned. The float will be up and running with more details coming as soon as they are available. I am truly sorry that details are not available at this time. I am still learning that these things take time to set up and I need to remember to start sooner than later allowing time to properly notify every one of the details. Next up will be the K of C family picnic being held on September 10. Again details are still being finalized, but be assured you can count on there being a picnic and everyone will have an awesome time. Please sign up if you plan on attending. Sign-up sheets are up in the council room. Remember this is for the entire family, please bring the kids and enjoy yourself. We will be asking for volunteers to cook, servers, and to help out with the games in the coming days. The more volunteers we have the less time needed to help and more time to enjoy the picnic. Bounce house and pony rides for the kids are already scheduled. Hot dogs and snacks during the day and hamburger and brats with side dishes for dinner inside. Next up the third degree is sponsoring a trip to the Cardinals game, they will be playing the Cincinnati Reds, September 29. Game time will be 6:15 with hot dogs and chips at the KC hall before leaving on the bus around 5:15. Tickets will be 15 dollars and a sign-up sheet will be available in the council room for anyone wanting to go. Contact Bob Palus for more info, and GO CARDS.

Please try to help as much as possible, if only for one 2 hour switch means so much to this huge K of C charity. We really need the help of the whole council to make this a success. Fraternally Yours, Grand Knight, Dwayne Saul (Email: dsaul@gckc.org) From the Faithful Navigator This month s meeting started with the installation of officers. Then the meeting was held followed by dinner served in The Coho Room attended by the officers and the members. The Ladies were invited to enjoy the food. Before closing our meetings the Knights recite a prayer for military personal around the world Lord, hold our troops in your loving hands. Protect them as they protect us. Bless them and their families for the selfless acts they perform for us in our time of need. Amen. I also ask you to pray to St. Michael the Archangel Patron Saint for all Police Officers. Oh Almighty God, whose great power and eternal wisdom embraces the universe, watch over all policemen and law enforcement officers Protect them from harm in the performance of their duty to stop crime, robberies, riots and violence. We pray help keep our street and homes safe day and night. We recommend them to your loving care because their duty is dangerous. Grant
