Immediately following the Mass a light lunch will be served in the Cafeteria. We realize that many of those who died this past year were buried from other parishes. We would like to include those persons in our prayer remembrance along with those who were buried from St. John Vianney parish. If one of your family members died this past year, and you would like that person to be remembered during the Mass on November 4th, please call the Rectory (732-574-0150) no later than Monday, October 30th.. KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS BLOOD DRIVE On October 15th, Sunday, from 8am to 1:30pm the Knights of Columbus Council 6571, under the sponsorship of the SJV parish, will conduct its semiannual mobile blood drive. The mobile blood unit will be parked in its usual place to the left of the church, as you walk up the steps. Please bring ID, and eat breakfast, before you give blood. St. John Vianney School News Thank you to all our families for your tremendous support of our annual Technology Walk-a-Thon. Through your generosity we were able to raise more than $11,000! An information session on Annulments will be held at Our Lady of Lourdes Church in Whitehouse Station on Wednesday, November 8, 2017 and Saint Thomas the Apostle Church in Old Bridge on Thursday, November 9, 2017. Both identical presentations will begin at 7:00 PM. This Autumn Season, Discover a New Rhythm for your Prayer Life For the children in your house, early to bed and early to rise means there may be more opportunities to be together for short prayer. Say a blessing at breakfast, or a brief morning offering as kids head out for the bus. Try to bring a more regular prayer schedule to your home. Pray with your children as you tuck them in, making the prayer personal and about the day s events. Make a resolve this fall to bring Christ more prominently into your family s daily routine. Make the stewardship of your faith and family a commitment as autumn brings a sense of renewal.
Music Ministry News We wish to welcome all of you to the music ministry section of our parish bulletin!! A special welcome back to all our choir members. All groups are looking for new members so please don t hesitate to contact our music director for more information about joining!! Adult Choir Our parish adult choir enhances our liturgies each Sunday from September through mid-june. The choir also sings for many special occasions during the year, such as: Midnight Mass, Holy Week, Confirmation, and our Mass of Remembrance in November!! The choir also provides two beautiful concerts for the parish, one during Advent and the other during Lent. We are always looking for new people to join with our very dedicated group!! We welcome all adults (And high school students) to be part of our choir! The adult choir sings weekly at the 9:00 am mass (And once a month at the 10:45 am mass). We practice each Wednesday from 7:30 to 9:00 Pm in the church. Our next rehearsal will be on Wednesday October 18th!!We will sing next Sunday October 15 th at the 9:00 am mass. Children s Choir Our parish children s choir is made of students from our parish from grades two and up!! The children in the group love coming together to sing for Sunday liturgies as well as special events during the year. The choir sings for our parish Christmas Pageant and 4:00 pm mass on Christmas Eve, as well as the 9:00 am mass on Easter Sunday!! We practice on Tuesday afternoons from 4:00 to 5:00 pm in the church. We sing twice a month at either the 9:00 or 10:45 am mass! Our next rehearsal will be on Tuesday October 17 th. We sing again on Sunday October 22nd at the 10:45 am Mass. Folk Group Our Parish Folk Group enhances the 12:15 liturgy each week. The Folk Group is under the direction of Ms. Jennie Esposito. Rehearsals are held weekly at 11:15 Am in the conference room adjacent to the church gathering area. Jennie is always looking for more singers as well as instrumentalists to join with the Folk Group! Teenage/College Group This group of young adults in the parish generally enhances the 12:15 Pm mass on the fourth Sunday of each month. Rehearsal is held at 11:15 am in the conference room. We will be collecting new blankets, and new or gently used clean coats from now through the weekend of October 28-29 in the back of the church. This is very difficult for people that don t live a stewardship lifestyle to believe. People are skeptical and say it s just coincidence. The walk will leave School 21 at 12:30 PM and proceed to the Colonia Fire House where a spaghetti dinner fundraiser will be held from 1-6 PM.
