Spend time with this friend, talk to him as you would any friend, share with him everything that is on your heart. He waits for you in Adoration Wednesday 9 AM 11 PM or Friday 9 AM to 6 PM. Lord Jesus Christ, through your Incarnation you became a human like all others and therefore you were in need of a human mother and a father to aide and safe-keep you, as you grew in wisdom and strength (Lk 2:52). St. Joseph was given to you as your foster father. In living out his fatherly role, he protected, guided, taught and above all, loved you as you passed from boyhood to manhood. Hear the prayers of St. Joseph. By his intercession, may Fr. Keith receive the protection and love of our Heavenly Father, just as you did through his fatherly care during your years in the house of Nazareth. St. Joseph, father and guardian of Jesus, and mine too, pray for Fr. Keith and obtain for him the grace of complete healing. Teach me, as you taught Jesus; protect me as you protected Mary; provide for me as you provided for your family throughout the humble and simple days of Nazareth. Amen. Gift Gatherers Wanted! Fall Festival 2017 is well underway planning an exciting and entertaining night for Saturday, October 7th. We are currently looking for parishioners to help with gathering gifts for the silent auction. If you are interested in helping and in meeting fellow parishioners, email Angela at evangelidis@gmail.com. Thank You! Calling the St. Ann Class of 1967 Fidget Group These placemat size activity blankets provide sensory and tactile stimulation for restless or fidgety hands of those suffering from Alzheimer s or dementia. There are many opportunities to be involved, whether or not you are a seamstress, so come fidget with us. The next fidget meeting will be on June 30, 9-11 in the Aquinas Room. Come join us as we plan for future projects, sewing NOT required. We received this thank you note from Brookdale Hospice: Hi Jo Ann, Diane dropped the fidget quilts off while I was out of town and they re wonderful! When I showed our staff the quilts yesterday, they took them all and had specific individuals in mind for each one of them. I can t thank you and the group enough for all the work you did to make the quilts for individuals with dementia and can t wait to see them fiddling with them on their laps. It is a busy time of year. But I do hope your group will remember us when you have some more available! Thanks again! If you graduated from St Ann grade school in 1967 our 50year plans for gathering are in the works! We have managed to locate lots of classmates and there seems to be a lot of enthusiasm about getting together. This is the schedule for our reunion: Friday, Oct. 13th Happy Hour Gathering Saturday, Oct. 14th BBQ at the home of Brad and Roys Thedinger complete with live music from our fellow classmates Sunday, Oct. 15th 10:30 am Mass and brunch at St Ann We are happy to have your help...just let us know. Relics of St. Maximilian Kolbe The Strawberry Hill Museum is proud to exhibit the unique collection of Fr. Tim Haberkorn of Sacred Heart Parish and St. Joseph Parish in Topeka, Kansas. Fr. Tim, called "The Relic Hunter," has generously donated his rare and valuable relics to the museum. Since his childhood, Fr. Tim has been collecting holy cards. Next came statues, and when he was in the seminary, he started his collection of relics of the saints. Relics connect us to those who have gone before us in faith -- especially those of the martyrs. Fr. Tim has made pilgrimages to many saints' tombs, and one of his favorite relics would be that of St. Maximilian Kolbe. These relics will be part of Fr. Tim's exhibit at the museum starting on July 1. Over 240 relics are in his collection. The museum is open Saturday and Sunday, noon until the last tour at 4:15pm. Opportunties Prayer and Action are Necessary to Keep Our First Freedom First When Pope Benedict visited the United States in 2008, he asked the U.S. bishops a question: Is it consistent to profess our beliefs in church on Sunday, and then during the week to promote business practices or medical procedures contrary to those beliefs? The Holy Father then answered his own question: Any tendency to treat religion as a private matter must be resisted. Only when their faith permeates every aspect of their lives do Christians become truly open to the transforming power of the Gospel. Federal law has long been generous in protecting the rights of individuals and institutions to not to act against their religious beliefs or moral convictions. Is that now changing? Are we entering a time when the federal government may now force the Church consisting of its faithful and all but a few of its institutions to act against Church teachings? To learn more visit www.archkck.org/fortnight. Upcoming icare Mass and Social Schedule Saturday, July 22nd, 6 pm Masses will be followed by a social with refreshments.
