Do not neglect hospitality, for through it some have unknowingly entertained angels. Hebrews 13:2 CONTINUATION OF LAST WEEK S TOPIC: Ascension/St. Bernard Missionary Hospitality Committee s reflections on Father Philippe Jean- Pierre s July 11 th through the 14 th missionary visit. On Sunday after Father Philippe Jean-Pierre celebrated all four Sunday Masses at Ascension and St. Bernard, he requested to eat a German meal, since much of our area was settled by German immigrants, and visit the St Paul Cathedral. He was so impressed by the cathedral that he requested to go back again on Monday. Also, on Monday, he toured the Basilica of St Mary s. He also requested to shop for items that are expensive in Haiti: batteries and light bulbs. Early Tuesday morning, he was brought back to MSP for his return flight. This experience was enlightening for each of the parishioners that were involved with his visit. From those that prepared the rectory to those that accompanied him each day. We had a chance to experience his joy. Personally, I found Father Philippe to be a ray of sunshine. The Holy Spirit seems to flow from the man. If asked, he was happy to speak of his country and the challenges his parishioners endure. However, he was also excited to learn more about us and our culture. I felt a sense of genuine concern and happiness from him. Amazing to think of the conditions that he lives through and yet still lives with such joy and gratefulness. Church of the Ascension Norwood Young America, MN ADORATION VOLUNTEER NEEDED Beginning in September, we need someone to take an hour of adoration from 9 10 a.m. each Thursday.
