Page 2 Fr. Brian Bell, Pastor St. Bernard of Clairvaux Roman Catholic Parish Scottsdale Annual Financial Report - July 1, 2014 to June 30, 2015 Welcome to St. Bernard of Clairvaux Scottsdale, Arizona I am continually amazed at the wonderful community we have here at St. Bernard. Other priests and the Bishops notice too. I am happy to report that the parish has over 112 Eucharistic Ministers, 75 Ministers of Care, 56 Lectors, 150 Music Ministers, 34 altar servers and 82 ushers serving our parish. We married 9 couples this past year while burying 21 parishioners. We have one seminarian (Chris Gossen). We welcomed 36 newly baptized and 8 were received into full communion with the Church last Easter. There were 97 parishioners confirmed and 76 people received their first reconciliation. Nine people completed the RCIA program and 77 children received their First Communion. Our Religious Education and Youth programs serve over 400 elementary, junior high and high school students. As we shared with you in December, the parish Finance Council is trying to pay down the debt on our Parish Center by the 5th Anniversary in February 2016. It is paid down to $560,000 as of June 30th and is down to $450,000 as of September 1st. We have paid off over $1 million in five years. I am so grateful for your generosity. I ask you to look at your family situation and see if there is a way you can assist us in our final push to retire this debt. Thank you for your continued support of the parish especially through electronic giving by credit card and direct deposit. This also saves our parish time and costs. Thank you for making this one of the best parishes in the Diocese! Yours in Christ, Fr. Have you been or do you know someone who is coming to Sunday Mass with their family and never become part of the Church? Do you know someone who was baptized Catholic and not received instruction in their Catholic faith? How about someone who has never been baptized? If you do, now is the time for you to invite them to become part of your Catholic faith community at St. Bernard s. Those who join us on this journey will prepare themselves to receive the Sacraments of Baptism (if not baptized), Confirmation, and First Eucharist. During their journey to come to full communion with Christ through worship in the Catholic Church, they will receive knowledge of the meaning of the sacraments and the theology and traditions of the Catholic faith. Participants will meet each Sunday, with the exception of holiday weekends, from 8:30 AM until 10:45 AM. All ministers of care are encouraged to attend. It is time to update the yearly Safe Environment Training for the Diocese. There will be an opportunity to update for Safe Environment Training at the meeting if you are not comfortable with managing that on your computer. This will fulfill your yearly obligation for the Ministry of Care. If you would like to perform your yearly update on your own computer, please call or email Cristina Dixon at 480-816-1889 or bcdixon@msn.com if you need an email address, procedure, or have questions about the process. You are free to update at your convenience but all updates must be finished by November 1 for diocesan documents and to function as a minister of care. The diocese will alert you on line as to which segment must be updated. All new ministry of care members who have recently acquired their Called to Protect or updated their Safe Environment Training are considered updated and are free from that obligation for this year. If you feel you are called to this ministry and wish to serve the Lord by bringing the Eucharist to those in need, please feel free to attend the Ministry of Care meeting for more information. You may also call or email Cristina Dixon at 480-816-1889 or bcdixon@msn.com. It is a blessing and a gift from God to carry the Body of Christ to the sick.
