CONGRATULATIONS! All at St. John Fisher School are delighted to hear news of the success of any of our graduates. This week we received the awesome news that former Falcon Tom Dowling of the class of 2010 was named a RHODES SCHOLAR. Tom will graduate from the University of Illinois in May and continue his studies at Oxford University. Only 32 students across the country have earned this prestigious award. Congratulations Tom. You still hold the school record for accumulated Accelerated Reading Points acquired. GIVING TREE Christmas is quickly coming and there are still opportunities to participate in our Giving Tree project. The Giving Tree is in the back of the church and will benefit the impoverished families of Robbins. The tree is decorated with ornaments and on each is written either male, female, teen, boy or girl and ages. If you choose to pick an ornament off of the tree we ask that you purchase a gift for the person you have picked. The dollar amount of the gift is up to you although we ask that the gift is for a minimum of ten dollars ($10.00). Each gift should be wrapped and on the outside clearly marked (just as the ornament was labeled) who is to receive the gift. We ask that you drop off the gifts at the rectory no later than December 15th so that they are available to give to the families at the Pro Labore Dei Christmas Gift Party on December 16th. If you have any questions, please contact Pam O Mara (773) 612-0281 or Amy Goggin (708) 215-2090. 2018 PARISH CALENDARS 2018 calendars will be available at all the church exits beginning December 24th and throughout the Christmas Season. The calendars are provided with the compliments of the Beverly Ridge Funeral Home, James Trolia, Director. PRO LABORE DEI The next trip to Robbins to serve the poor will be SATURDAY, DECEMBER 30th. We will meet in the rectory basement at a new time, 10:30am to prepare lunches, clean up and head out by 11:15am. We will need help with donations, assembling the lunches and volunteers to go to Robbins. If you can help with any of these, please contact our team. Donations: 12 loaves of white bread 14 medium-large tomatoes 3 large heads of romaine lettuce 4 cases of water 100 brown lunch bags 100 bags of chips 100 paper plates Assembling lunches: Trip to Robbins: 10-15 people are needed to help prepare and package lunches in the rectory basement. Help is needed driving and unloading donations and distributing lunches to the poor. Sanitary kits for men, women or children are always needed (ie: toothbrush, toothpaste, socks, razors, shave cream, soap, shampoo, conditioners, chap stick, band aids, lotion, feminine products, wash cloths, wipes, first aid cream, sun block). In the winter, there is always a need for new, warm socks in both children and adult sizes. Winter coats, boots, hats, gloves, blankets all of this is needed! There is always an urgent need for diapers sizes 3, 4, 5. Donations of clothing and shoes for the winter season are always needed and appreciated. Please contact Amy (708) 715-2090 or Pam (773) 612-0281. STEWARDSHIP = TIME - TALENT - TREASURE

GAVIN COYLE RETURNS TO ST. JOSEPH S IN HOMEWOOD Once again, the amazing Irish tenor, Gavin Coyle, will return to St. Joseph s Church in Homewood for a concert on Tuesday, December 19th at 7:00pm to help us prepare for the wondrous celebration of the Incarnation. As always, there is no charge for this amazing musical night, but a freewill offering will be requested. And Gavin s CD s will be available once again for $15.00 (checks made payable to St. Joseph s ). With luck, Gavin s new CD will be available, but we may have to wait until March for that if there was any delay in production. Take a break for any hectic, last-minute Christ preparation and give yourself the gift of a memorable musical night on December 19th. St. Joseph s is at 179th and Dixie Highway in Homewood. Avoid the busy RR tracks on Western Avenue in Blue Island and take either Kedzie or Pulaski to 175th Street and head east to Dixie Highway, then south and left under the viaduct to stay on Dixie.
