Join us in celebrating St. Joseph's Feast Day on Monday, 19 March with Mass at 6p followed by a procession behind the St. Joseph altar to the PAC where we'll enjoy a BBQ, activities and more! A Parish Family of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Charleston Parish Clergy Office hours: Stay connected: Our Mission Welcome! Are you new?

From our Pastor Dear Friends in Christ, It s a busy fifth week of Lent here at Prince of Peace! Monday is the Feast of St Joseph. As it s a solemnity, we are forbidden to fast, but it is important for us to pray and celebrate as a parish family. In Catholic countries, it is also observed as Father s Day. Because we love to encourage Catholic culture and togetherness as a parish family, we want all of our Dads to come to the 6p English Mass for St Joseph, followed by a Procession to the PAC for a Barbeque Meal catered by Three Little Pigs. It is a splendid opportunity to honor our fathers with a blessing and good food, and to enjoy each other s company in a relaxed fashion. Friday is our annual observance of Solemn Stations of the Cross. Our children s choirs sing motets between stations, and children of various ages are involved in this important service of prayer. After Stations, we will have Exposition of the Relic of the True Cross, with an opportunity to venerate the relic. Today we also veil all of the crosses images in the church as we enter into that season within the season of Lent called Passiontide. We change our focus from the spiritual battle of our lives to the ultimate battle of Christ fought for our lives. There are so many graces that you can claim as your own during this time. Do so with great courage and joy! The Adoration Chapel of Christ the King Pews and a rail made of the same wood as the pews in the Church have been installed! A huge thank you to Marcel Farge for his early morning hours spent photographing all the elements of our refreshed chapel. Did you know? The main inspiration for the chapel is taken from the English Neo-gothic and French Neo-Romanesque aesthetic principles of the XIX century. The Chapel was built in 2002 with the intention of being a Daily Mass Chapel. Happenings & Needs The present laws of the Church regarding fast and abstinence during the Season of Lent are as follows: 1. Ash Wednesday and Good Friday are days of fast. On days of fast, one full meal is allowed. Two lesser meals, sufficient to maintain strength, may be taken according to each one s needs, but together they should not equal another full meal. Eating between meals is not permitted. Catholics who have completed their 18th year are bound by this law until the beginning of their 60th year. 2. Ash Wednesday and all Fridays of Lent are also days of abstinence. On days of abstinence, meat should not be eaten at any meal. The law of abstinence binds all Catholics who have completed their 14th year. The Obligation to observe, as a whole or substantially, the penitential days specified by the Church is a serious obligation. The Code of Canon Law states: On these days (of Penance), the faithful are in a special manner to devote themselves to prayer, to engage in works of piety and charity, to deny themselves, by fulfilling their obligations more faithfully and especially by observing the fast and abstinence... Please donate toward the cost of the Easter flowers in memory or honor of a loved one using the envelope provided in your March/April packet or a plain envelope with your name, the name of your loved one and amount, and place it in the collection basket. Donations will be published in the Easter bulletin. Deadline is Monday, 26 March at 12p.
