Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am Gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light." SCRIPTURE Luke 19: 28-40(NKJV) The Triumphal Entry 28 When He had said this, He went on ahead, going up to Jerusalem. 29 And it came to pass, when He drew near to Bethphage and Bethany, at the mountain called Olivet, that He sent two of His disciples, 30 saying, Go into the village opposite you, where as you enter you will find a colt tied, on which no one has ever sat. Loose it and bring it here. 31 And if anyone asks you, Why are you loosing it? thus you shall say to him, Because the Lord has need of it. 32 So those who were sent went their way and found it just as He had said to them. 33 But as they were loosing the colt, the owners of it said to them, Why are you loosing the colt? 34 And they said, The Lord has need of him. 35 Then they brought him to Jesus. And they threw their own clothes on the colt, and they set Jesus on him. 36 And as He went, many spread their clothes on the road. 37 Then, as He was now drawing near the descent of the Mount of Olives, the whole multitude of the disciples began to rejoice and praise God with a loud voice for all the mighty works they had seen, 38 saying: Blessed is the King who comes in the name of the Lord! Peace in heaven and glory in the highest! 39 And some of the Pharisees called to Him from the crowd, Teacher, rebuke Your disciples. 40 But He answered and said to them, I tell you that if these should keep silent, the stones would immediately cry out. LEADER: This is the Word of God CONGREGATION: Thanks Be Unto God 4
RESPONSIVE READING Psalm 107: 1-8(NKJV) LEADER: CONG: LEADER: CONG: Oh, give thanks to the Lord, for He is good! For His mercy endures forever. Let the redeemed of the Lord say so, Whom He has redeemed from the hand of the enemy, And gathered out of the lands, From the east and from the west, From the north and from the south. They wandered in the wilderness in a desolate way; They found no city to dwell in. Hungry and thirsty, Their soul fainted in them. Then they cried out to the Lord in their trouble, And He delivered them out of their distresses. And He led them forth by the right way, That they might go to a city for a dwelling place. ALL: Oh, that men would give thanks to the Lord for His goodness, And for His wonderful works to the children of men! 5
AT THE CROSS Alas! And did my Savior bleed? And did my Sov- reign die? Would He devote that sacred head For such a worm as I? Chorus: At the cross, at the cross where I first saw the light, And the burden of my heart rolled away It was there by faith I received my sight, And now I am happy all the day! Was it for crimes that I have done He groaned upon the tree? Amazing pity! Grace unknown And love beyond degree! Well might the sun in darkness hide And shut his glories in, When Christ the mighty Maker, died For man the creatures sins. But drops of grief can ne er repay The debt of love I owe: Here, Lord, I give myself away - Tis all that I can do! 6
Every Christian should strive to learn how to be a cheerful giver. When we give what does it actually mean?
