1 TODAY S MESSAGE: OUR SUFFERING SAVIOR HIS TRIUMPHAL ENTRANCE Luke 19:28-44 March 20, 2016 Palm Sunday When he came near the place where the road goes down the Mount of Olives, the whole crowd of disciples began joyfully to praise God in loud voices for all the miracles they had seen: "Blessed is the king who comes in the name of the Lord!" "Peace in heaven and glory in the highest!" (Luke 19:37-38) A CLOSER LOOK AT PALM SUNDAY I. LOOK AT THE C 1. those following Jesus from Bethany 2. those at Jerusalem for the Passover coming out to see Jesus Some were curious, some were praising. II. LOOK AT J Rejoice greatly, O Daughter of Zion! Shout, daughter of Jerusalem! See, your king comes to you, righteous & having salvation, gentle & riding on a donkey, on a colt, the foal of a donkey." (Zechariah 9:9) Prophesies that Jesus is the MESSIAH King of Kings. III. LOOK AT THE DONKEY S O "Go to the village ahead of you, and as you enter it, you will find a colt tied there, which no one has ever ridden. Untie it and bring it here. 31 If anyone asks you, `Why are you untying it?' tell him, `The Lord needs it.' " (Luke 19:30-31) IV. LOOK AT THE D (References: Numbers 22, Luke 2, Matthew 2) For Reflection / Action: In the crowds that witnessed Jesus enter Jerusalem on Palm Sunday, who am I most like? What do I have that the Lord needs? Am I willing to give it to Him? Am I willing to let the Lord use me? Message based on His Triumphal Entry! by Rev. Melvin Newland, Brownsville, TX. March, 1994.
