Classes focussed on the richness of communities and the gifts of our cultural diversity. The theme of Everyone Belongs also invited conversations around how we can be people of hope and love in an ever changing cultural context. The sharing of our family stories was enjoyed by all and highlighted the uniqueness of each family, our cultural traditions and stories. Children enjoyed a fantastic day, being with each other and focussing on who we are as a diverse and welcoming community. Children and staff loved the orange casual dress and activities, representing our solidarity and commitment to this important issue. Our thanks also to all children and families for your support of our shared lunches today. Our thanks to Carolyn Glynn, Julia Nofi and Alison Tanti Clark for their outstanding leadership of the day and wonderful organisation of activities and resources. We look forward to seeing many of you at tonight s Family Mass to celebrate Harmony Day. Today we also hosted our Conversations with Carolyn parent session. This has been a highly successful initiative where parents are able to share ideas and strategies to support children s well-being. Parents have also developed supportive networks and relationships in sharing with one another. We have enjoyed observing the wisdom, strategies and indeed the connections that are made during these mornings. A hot coffee and cake is also very much appreciated by all. Our thanks to Carolyn Glynn for her support and leadership of these sessions. Our Term 2 theme will be advertised early next term. Last week we hosted an Online Safety Seminar facilitated by the Carly Ryan Foundation. This seminar was planned as a result of parent feedback and interest in how to keep our children safe when using the internet. We know that our children are using the internet daily to connect with each other and the world around them. The objectives of the Carly Ryan Foundation are to empower our young people to make wise choices, to look after their digital reputation and keep themselves and others safe while navigating the internet and apps. Founder and CEO, Sonya Ryan, along with two presenters, spoke about Carly s story and how their aim is to keep all young people safe by educating children, parents and the community about cyber safety. We learnt some important tools and strategies such as how to access the App Review Store to help us find apps that are safe for our children to use, how to ensure privacy settings are set to private and how to use restrictions when young children are using phones or ipads. We discovered more about cyber bullying and cyber grooming and how we can report issues to The Office of the esafety Commissioner. Most importantly Sonya spoke about how we must continue to have conversations with our young people and how vital it is to keep the communication open and honest. It was wonderful to see so many parents come along to learn together about how we can keep our children safe. On Friday staff participated in a very enjoyable professional learning day focussing on the Circle Time strategy. This strategy supports our focus on student well being and encourages the development of collaborative and inclusive learning environments. Circle Time supports children to share ideas in a safe, creative and inclusive way where all ideas are valued and children have a voice in the learning process. The day was facilitated by Bill Hansberry who led us through this very engaging and dynamic learning experience. As a staff we look forward to implementing this strategy as part of our learning programme and the social and emotional development of our children. Next week teachers will meet with parents to discuss your child s well-being, learning achievements and goals for future development. This is an important process in the partnership we share with you and we encourage all families to make this time a priority.

Catholic Identity From the APRIM Next week is Holy Week, the most important week in our Church year. It is the time when we remember and celebrate the last days of Jesus life, before his death and resurrection. We recall and honour the rich and powerful gospel stories that take us from Jesus being welcomed into Jerusalem on Palm Sunday; to the sharing of bread and wine with his disciples at the Last Supper on Holy Thursday; to Jesus suffering on his way to the cross and his crucifixion on Good Friday; and finally to his joyous resurrection on Easter Sunday. As a school community, we celebrate these significant events by sharing in this story through prayer, reflection and action: Palm Sunday On Monday March 26, each class will read and reflect on the gospel story of Palm Sunday and make palms to decorate their classroom doors. Holy Thursday On Tuesday March 27 and Wednesday March 28, each class will visit the Chapel to gather together in prayer to re-enact the Last Supper and to share in a meal of flatbread and grape juice. Parents and families are very welcome to join us for these special prayer times. An app message will be sent out by the end of the week with dates and times for class celebrations. Good Friday On Thursday March 29, each class will share in a Stations of the Cross Prayer Service where they will walk with Jesus on his way to the cross. On Thursday March 29, our whole school will also take part in a CRAZY HAIR DAY 4 CARITAS organised by our Year 6/7 Justice Leaders. All students are invited to come along with crazy hair, wear casual clothes and bring along a gold coin donation to support Project Compassion. Our Justice Leaders have visited classes and prepared flyers to promote this event with our school community. These are available on the website and details published on the school app. Easter Sunday On returning to school the following week, all students will engage in reading the scripture of Easter Sunday and reflect on its significance in their own lives. We will also gather together with Father Brian and the Parish on Wednesday April 4 at 6.30pm at Sacred Heart Church for our 2/3 Family Easter Mass. All students and families are warmly invited to come along. With an emphasis on participation, and understated competition, students showed their Dominican spirit by swimming in a number of 25m and 50m heats across the four strokes. True to the spirit of Growth Mindset, we experienced great pride watching our students derive happiness from identifying a challenge and working hard to achieve their best. We congratulate and recognise every child for trying their hardest and displaying brilliant sporting qualities. Well done! Lachlan Sands (pictured) recently participated in the Little Nippers Surf Life Saving Championships, which has resulted in Lachlan becoming the State Champion!
