Godparents (Sponsors) must be practicing Catholics and at least 14 years of age. A practicing non-catholic Christian may act as a witness along with a Catholic Sponsor. Twentieth Sunday in Ordinary Time, August 20, 2017 RITE OF CHRISTIAN INITIATION OF ADULTS We welcome all unbaptized individuals, friends, family members and neighbors who are not Roman Catholic Christians or those individuals within the Catholic Tradition who may have never received the Sacraments of the Holy Eucharist or Confirmation to participate in our parish program for adult Christian Initiation at this time. This program is also ideal for baptized Christians of other Christian denominations who are interested in learning more about the Catholic Faith. If you know of someone who may wish to experience the richness of our Catholic Faith and who desires to participate fully in the sacramental life of the Church, please contact Barbara Bunag at 732-257-7722. MATRIMONY The Sacrament of Matrimony requires an extensive period of preparation. Contact must be made with Parish Center one year in advance. MINISTRY TO THE SICK The Sacrament of the Holy Eucharist and the anointing of the sick is available to our parish sick and shut-ins upon request. Please inform the parish concerning the needs of the sick by calling the Parish Office. If any member of the parish is hospitalized, please notify the Parish Office immediately so that a member of the Pastoral Staff may visit. PLEASE PRAY FOR THE MEMBERS OF OUR PARISH FAMILY WHO ARE SICK AS WELL AS THOSE MEMBERS WHO ARE SERVING IN THE ARMED FORCES Dear Brothers and Sisters, This Sunday we celebrate the feast of our patron, Saint Bartholomew the Apostle and Martyr. When our parish was established in 1959, our first pastor, Monsignor Morgan Kelly, was given the privilege of founding a parish among the orchards and farms of East Brunswick Township. Monsignor often told the story of being in the car with Bishop Ahr and driving with him into a field and then an orchard of apple and peach trees. When Monsignor asked the Bishop where he was to build the Church, Bishop Ahr told him This is the place. Nearly 60 years later the Parish has grown and flourished under the patronage of our great Apostle Bartholomew. May we continue to build up our faith community through prayer and service. This Summer has witnessed a number of changes to our community. As you know Monsignor Benwell has been appointed Pastor of Immaculate Conception Parish in Annandale, New Jersey. Since Monsignor will no longer be with us on Sundays our Sunday Mass Schedule will be reduced by one mass. The 7am Mass will no longer be celebrated. I realize that this will be an inconvenience to some of our community and I ask for your understanding and support. On August 8 th, my wonderful Sage died and I am missing her loving presence and good heart. Sage was almost 14 years old and so had a very good and happy life here at the parish. Have a blessed feast day. Saint Bartholomew, pray for us. In Christ, Fr. Thomas For those who want to send Msgr. Benwell warm wishes here is his address August 5th & 6th, 2017: $18,465.17 August 12th & 13, 2017: $18,910.00 Msgr.
