Welcome to the Jesus n Me lesson Jesus is the Life! (the Resurrection of Jesus) This Jesus n Me lesson is packed with activities and crafts to make it fun for everyone. A Talk Time is included to help children understand the significance of the Bible story; and step-by-step instructions are included to make preparation easy and quick for you. I hope you are greatly blessed in using these resources, and pray that the children in your care come to know the Lord Jesus Christ on a personal level. If you have any questions or comments, feel free to contact My Bible Crafts: http://mybiblecrafts.com/contactmybiblecrafts.html How to Use the Jesus n Me Lessons Save the two PDF files that are attached to the email (a black-and-white file and a color file) to your computer. You are also permitted, and encouraged, to make one backup copy onto an external drive or thumb drive (usb flash drive). Saving Tips: You can skip the color-illustrated pictures, and just use black-and-white pictures (and color them yourself or have teens help). To save even more on printing, use a laser jet printer, instead of an inkjet printer for the black-and-white pages; then print the color-illustrated pictures using a color Inkjet printer. Copy the pictures using a black and white, or color photocopier, respectively. (I would advise against using pages printed from an inkjet printer for children's crafts, as these inks can come off. The chemicals in the inks may pose a safety concern. Make copies that are to be used for children's crafts on a copy machine instead). Keep all glue caps, marker caps and other small items out of reach of children, age 3 or under, as they are a choking hazard. Use nontoxic washable markers only. Watch young children when they are using crayons to be sure they don't put them into their mouths. Have an emergency plan in place in case of injury, ie, someone trained in First Aid procedures, emergency phone numbers on hand, etc. This is not a complete list of safety tips. Consult safety or First Aid manuals for specifics. Intro: This is Fleecy the Lamb. He s here to help tell this true Bible story. Fleecy: Hi! (Encourage children to say Hi to Fleecy). We ve been learning all about Jesus and how he had many followers. His followers knew Jesus was different than them. They saw that Jesus could heal sick people and make blind people see again! They loved to listen to him teach because he spoke the very words of God. Large crowds of people would run out to see Jesus! Lamb puppet: Even the children loved Jesus! That s right. But the leaders of the people did not love Jesus. They were envious of Jesus! All the attention and praise that Jesus got made them mad. (Cross arms In front of you and make a mad face). They thought they were the ones who should get the attention instead. So they thought of a mean plan to get rid of Jesus. (Robe, crown, whip) One day when Jesus was in the garden with his disciples, the leaders came with swords ready to fight! All of the disciples became afraid and ran off. The leaders tied Jesus up, as if Jesus had done some something wrong! And, they took him away. Then they beat Jesus with a whip. They made a crown out of thorns, and pushed it down on his head. Lamb puppet: Ow! That would really hurt! Yes. Then they dressed up Jesus in a king s robe and made fun of him, since he was called King of the Jews. Lamb puppet: Jesus didn t deserve any of that! (Sun and cross). That s right. Jesus never sinned, not even once. Next, the leaders led Jesus away. Jesus disciples, and all those who loved him, followed
Jesus is the Life, page 2 along behind him, a little far away. The leaders brought Jesus to the hill where he was hung on a cross made of wood. Even while they were doing all these horrible things to Jesus, he prayed and asked God to forgive them! (Sun sticker, sad cloud) It was about 12:00 noon, the middle of the day -- when the sun usually shines. But when Jesus was hung on the cross, the sun stopped shining. (Cover sun with cloud sticker). It got very dark and stayed that way for three long hours while Jesus was on the cross. Lamb puppet: It was sad day when Jesus died on the cross. (Tomb picture, wrapped body) Yes, very sad. But, let s wait and see what happens. It s not over yet. Later Jesus body was taken down from the cross and wrapped it in strips of cloth, then placed in a tomb. (Stick wrapped body through slit in tomb, and pull out through the back). That s how people were buried in Bible Times. Lamb puppet: What s a tomb? (Point to tomb). It s a large rock in the side of a hill that is empty inside. A stone was rolled in front to close it up. (Place stone sticker on tomb). Soldiers were placed by the tomb to guard it. (Three women) The next day was the Sabbath, so Jesus friends rested. Very early the next morning before the sun came up, some of Jesus friends took some spices to the tomb to prepare Jesus body to be buried: It was Mary Magdalene, Salome, and James mother, who was also named Mary. (Point to each as you say the name), and some other women. On the way there, they were talking about who would roll away the heavy stone that was in front of the tomb. Lamb puppet: It was too heavy for them! (Angel) Yes, but just then, there was a big earthquake that shook the earth! An angel came down from heaven and rolled away the stone! (Roll away stone and stick angel on top of it). When the women got to the tomb, they looked for Jesus body, but it was not there! They only saw the strips of cloth. (Show children strips of cloth). They were afraid! Where was Jesus? Suddenly there was an angel dressed in white, he said, Don t be afraid! Jesus is not here! He has risen! Remember what Jesus said? On the third day I will rise? The women thought about it, and they did remember. Yep. Jesus did say that. The women were so excited they ran back to tell the disciples! Who wants to run with me? (Move your arms as if running and encourage children to join you). On the way back, who do you think they saw? Lamb puppet: JESUS! (Jumps up and down). That s right! Jesus! They were so happy to see him again! But they were still a little afraid! Jesus told them not to be afraid, but to go back and tell the disciples that he would be in Galilee, and they should all go meet with him there.
Jesus is the Life, page 3 So they started running to go back again. Who wants to go with me? C mon! We have to go back and tell the disciples! (Encourage children to run with you). When they got there they told the disciples everything they had heard and saw at the tomb! The disciples didn t believe the women. They thought they were just making up stories. But Peter was curious. He had to see for himself. He and another disciple ran all the way to the tomb! Let s pretend we re running with them. Hurry! We ve got to see for ourselves! (Move arms as if running. Encourage children to join in). They went inside the tomb. There were the strips of cloth! (Show children strips of cloth). But where was Jesus? He was not there! Peter went away confused, wondering what happened. During the next few weeks, the disciples saw Jesus again many times! They were so happy to see him again! Many other people saw him too. Then Jesus was taken up to heaven (Point up) in a cloud! (Raise cloud sticker slowly up). Let s talk about the story; then we have some fun activities to do. Talk Time After Jesus died on the cross, he was placed in the tomb. That was very sad. But Jesus didn t stay there! He was brought back to life by the power of God! And that was very happy! Here s why: Before Jesus left the disciples this is what he told them. (Read John 14:19). Lamb puppet: What did Jesus mean? Well, since he was raised from the dead, if we trust in Jesus to save us, we will live too, even after we die! Lamb puppet: But why did Jesus die on the cross? (Cross with children) We all sin. (Point to children). We do wrong things, like lying and being mean. We don t always love God and others like we should. But Jesus was perfect! He never sinned! But he was willing to die on the cross to take the punishment that we deserve! (Point to children). For those who believe that Jesus died on the cross for their sins and are sorry for their sins, their sin is forgiven and washed away! When that happens your spirit is made alive! Then, after you die, we will live again just like Jesus is alive! And those who trust in Jesus get to live in heaven with him forever after that! And, heaven is way better than any place than we know! There are no tears in heaven, and no one sins in heaven! What could be better than that? Lamb puppet: Now I understand the verse: (Read John 14:6). Jesus is the WAY to God and heaven. He came to tell us the TRUTH. And he gives LIFE to all who trust in him! (Jumps up and down excitedly). Very good! I m glad you understand. Now we have some fun activities that will explain everything in a fun way. Let s have snack first.

Then, since our sins are washed away, then we get to go live in heaven with Jesus some day! Here s the promise Jesus gave to all those who know him as their Lord and Savior, and follow him like a sheep follows its shepherd: (Read John 10:27). Isn t that a wonderful promise?
