Adam and Eve - Week 8 Preschool Lesson - page 2 Adam and Eve Enjoyed All God Made; Then, Adam and Eve Disobeyed! Garden of Eden with Adam and Eve behind bushes, TKGE. Point to animals. Point to Adam and Eve. Review of Creation Bible Story (3) We've been learning how God made everything in six days. On Day six he made the animals; and he made a man and a woman. Who can tell me their names? Very good. Adam and Eve. Then we learned that God put them in a beautiful garden the Garden of Eden! Let's do the motions of this rhyme together! Let's Rhyme! Adam and Eve's Beautiful World Adam and Eve had a gorgeous world to explore! With all these things, who could want more? They could listen to the birds; What a beautiful sound! They could watch the animals run 'round and 'round. I bet they played with some of the animals too. They could watch the clouds in the sky so blue! They could pick flowers; Here, these are for you! They could adopt a kitty that says, mew mew. They could go to the river for a swim. And best of all... When God came to visit, they could walk with him! Make a large circular motion with hand Hold hands out to side, palms up. Cup your ear. Make circles with hand. Run in place. Point up and look up. Pretend to hold out flowers. Pretend to hold and pet kitty. Make swimming motions with arms. Walk in place. Picture of Adam and Eve in the garden (Close-up). Stand-up Garden scene. Say the rhyme 2 X, letting children repeat each part. Point to the Tree of KGE. Point to the trees as you talk about them. Hold up one finger when saying One little rule. Pass out some plastic fruit, letting kids pick, and pretend to eat together. God's One Rule: Rhymes for Adam and Eve(4) Adam and Eve enjoyed exploring the beautiful world God had made. I m sure they loved listening the birds singing. They felt the soft breezes blowing and the warm sunshine. I think they probably played with the animals too. Do you know what their really special activity was? When God came to visit them in the evening, they could walk and talk with him! What could be better than that! God loved Adam and Eve, so he gave them a rule to protect them: God told them they could eat the fruit from any of the trees, except for ONE. This is what God told Adam and Eve, I have given you many fruit trees. You may eat from any of these; But not this one in the middle please. They could eat the fruit from this tree, and this one, and this one, and even this one, but NOT the fruit from THIS tree in the middle of the garden. That was the tree of Knowing Good and Evil. God told them, that if they ate from THAT tree, they would die. Do you think they could handle that one little rule? Let s listen to the rest of the story and find out. How fun it was for Adam and Eve to taste the delicious fruit from the different trees in the garden! Peaches, cherries, oranges, apples, plums, guava, pineapple. Yum! Who wants to taste a piece of fruit? I m going to try this one. Um-m-m! That s yummy! How good God was to give them so many delicious fruits! Adam and Eve had everything they needed. How happy they were in the beautiful garden! Nothing would ever spoil their perfect, gorgeous world...at least that s what it seemed like. Let's see what happens next.

Adam and Eve - Week 8 Preschool Lesson - Page 3 Bible Time and Rhyme - Let's Help Eve(5) Point to snake. Then pull snake closer to Eve. Hey, what's this slimy thing? (Let children answer). Yikes! That's a snake! Did you know that the snake was really the Devil? Our Bible tells us that. That ol' snake slithered right up to Eve. Let's see what he said to her. Read Genesis 3:1. Let children repeat the rhyme with you, then the add-on. Eve answered, God said, I have given you many fruit trees. You may eat from any of these; But not the one in the middle please! He said we shouldn't even touch it, or we will die. Pull the snake closer and make it move around close to Eve. Say each part of the rhyme. Let kids repeat it. Hold up a piece of plastic fruit. Let children answer. Pretend to eat the fruit. Hold the fruit up close to Adam. Say each part of rhyme, let kids repeat it. The snake loved to make up lies that were not true about God. He told Eve, You won't die! God only said that because he doesn t want you to become like HIM, knowing good and evil. (Whisper) Uh-oh. I think Eve needs our help. Let s say a new rhyme together to help Eve. I ll say it first. Evy, Evy, don t eat that! If you disobey God, you will be sad. Evy, Evy, what will you do? Remember what God said. He loves YOU! Eve looked at the fruit. It looked so juicy and ripe! And she DID want to become wise like God. Eve had a choice. She could believe God and do what HE said; or she could believe the snake. Can you guess what Eve did? C R-R-U-U-U-N-C-H! Crunch, crunch, crunch. Oh, NO-O-O-O! Eve did the ONE THING that God asked her NOT to do! She ate the fruit from the Tree of Knowing Good and Evil! Then she gave the fruit to Adam. Let s say the rhyme for Adam. Hopefully, he'll do better. Adam, Adam, don t eat that! If you disobey God, you will be sad. Adam, Adam, what will you do? Remember what God said. HE LOVES YOU! Bible Time and Rhyme - Let's Help Adam (6) Pretend to take another bite out of the fruit. Hold up sad face sticker. Pull out figures. Point to their leaves. Let kids put more leaf stickers on them. Make footstep sounds. Read words, then Gen. 3:8. Hide figures, then read Gen. 3:9 Show kids how to make circles binoculars using index fingers and thumbs. Let kids say rhyme after you. And do you know what Adam did? C-R-R-U-U-U-N-C-H! Crunch, crunch, crunch. Oh, no-o-o! Adam also took and ate the fruit! All of a sudden they just wanted to hide. They felt so sad and ashamed. The only thing they could find to hide in was fig leaves. They sewed some together and made clothes for themselves. Who wants to cover them with some more fig leaves. These will stick on. Uh-oh. I hear something. Let's read our Bible and see what it was. Let's say another rhyme together and see if we can find Adam. Adam! Adam, where are you? Please stop hiding. God's looking for you! Always before they were so excited to talk to God, but not this time. They knew they had disobeyed God. They didn't want to face him, so they ran and hid. Read Genesis 3: Pull figures out a little so they are peeking out from the tree as each answers God. Point to Eve, then to the snake, following the cues from the verses. Take figures out from behind the tree, and walk them out of the garden. Move your arm back and forth in a criss-cross fashion to show children how the flaming sword moved. Now things would be different. God told the snake he would have to crawl on his belly and eat dust! Now Adam and Eve would have to leave the beautiful garden that God made for them. He sent Adam and Eve out of the garden, and put an angel and a flaming sword at one side of the Garden. The sword flashed back and forth to make sure Adam and Even couldn t go back in. Can you do that with me? What a sad day it was for Adam and Eve! Now they could no longer enjoy their perfect, happy life in the Garden of Eden. Now they would have to work very hard. Any children born to them would sin also. Now there would be sickness and dying. How they wished they had obeyed God, and NOT listened to that sneaky ol' snake!

Adam and Eve - Week 8 Preschool Lesson page 4 Show children the leather clothes. Let kids put clothes on figures. Point to Adam and Eve, then the snake. Read Numbers 23:19. Let children answer. Read 1 John 1:9a Let's Do Stickers - New Clothes for Adam and Eve (7) But, God had compassion on Adam and Eve. That means God knew they were just people, and that they were weak. God wanted to show them that he still loved them, so he was kind to Adam and Eve. He made them some real clothes out of animal skins. Who wants to help me dress Adam and Eve in the clothes? There. Those are much better than the ones Adam and Eve made from leaves. Even though Adam and Eve had to leave the garden, God would still take care of them. Circle Talk Time In our Bible story, Adam and Eve found out that God was the one who told them the truth. It was the snake who had lied to them. Let's see what our Bible tells us about God. God cannot lie. He always tells the truth. And, he wants us to tell the truth too. Remember when God came looking for Adam and Eve. God asked them questions, and then Adam and Eve told the truth about what they did. We all sin sometimes. We all do wrong things. When we know we did something wrong, it makes us feel sad and ashamed. What's the best thing to do when we sin? Let's see what our Bible says. That means when we tell God the truth about what we did wrong, he forgives us! What a great God we have! God loves us so much that he forgives us when we're sorry! Then he comforts us. Then, we can ask him to help us do the right thing the next time; and he will do that. Did you like that Bible story? I did too. Let's pray now, then have snack. Then we have some fun activities to do. If children are having trouble waiting their turn, you can have them raise their hand and wait to be called on. This is just an example. Listen to the Holy Spirit's leading. Give children a chance to pray also. 'Let Me Pray' Prayer Time Let's pray now. I'll say a prayer first. Then, if anyone wants to pray after me, you can take turns praying. Heavenly Father, you are our awesome God! Thank you having compassion on us. Thank you for making a way for us to be forgiven by sending your Son Jesus to die on the cross to pay for our sins. Help us all to trust in Jesus as we grow up and learn more about him. We praise you for being our loving God. In Jesus' name we pray.

Adam and Eve in the Garden - Week 8 Preschool / Toddler Activities - Page 2 Supplies (For each small group leader): Bible marked with James 4:7 Cards for small group leaders (below), cut apart Happy / Sad Face cards, cut apart A small pack of cookies Two toys of the same kind Bandaids Small Group Activity - Choices Instructions: Give each child 1 happy face and 1 sad face, and each group leader his cards (below). Divide children into groups of 3 or more children, assigning a teen or adult leader to lead each group. Hold up the appropriate objects as you read through each scenario. Cards to cut apart and give one set to each small group leader: Intro: I have a Bible verse that will help us do this activity: (Read James 4:7-8). That means when when we think about doing something wrong, we have a choice. We don't have to do the wrong thing. We can allow God to lead us to do the right thing. We can think what we have been taught from the Bible, and do what is right. We need God's help to do that. Key Concepts to reinforce: We have lots of choices. Choosing God's way gives us joy. Choosing the wrong thing makes us sad. We can pray and ask God to help us. That's why the verse says come near to God. To come near to God, we can pray. He will help us do what's right. I'm going to ask you some questions about choices you might have to make. Then we'll take turns answering the questions. Then each of you can hold up the happy face if that choice will make us happy or sad. I'll show you how to do it. After each scenario, ask children 4 questions: Which one would you choose? How would that make you feel later? Which would be the wrong choice? How would that make us feel later? Show children how to hold up the happy or sad faces for the right and wrong choices, respectively. Scenario 1 If mom says No snacks before lunch, but you see some cookies in your brother's room; and you're really hungry NOW; and they look REALLY GOOD! You have a choice: Sneak the cookies before lunch, and don't tell anyone; or ask mom if you can have some cookies after lunch. Scenario 2 Pretend that you have two (name the toys). Your friend doesn't have any. You have a choice: You can keep them both to yourself (Hide toys behind back), or you can share one with your friend. (Hold one toy out). Scenario 3 Pretend you are running and playing with your friends at a park; and you see a boy fall down and scrape his knee. He's bleeding and crying. You have a choice: You can keep running and playing, and act like you didn't see him; or you can stop, and go tell mom or dad that he needs help; and bring some band-aids to the boy who's hurt. Scenario 4 Pretend that your friend let you play with one of his toy cars; and it broke while you were playing with it. You have a choice: You can lie and say that you didn't break it; or you can tell your friend the truth: that you accidentally broke his toy; and then you can tell him you're sorry.

Preschool/Toddler Take-Home Page for Week 8 Adam and Eve enjoyed all God Made, then Adam and Eve Disobeyed! Lesson Highlights: Your child is learning the exciting (true) Bible story of Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden! The story of the Fall continues with the focus on God's character: Your child is learning that God is forgiving and compassionate, and that he always tells the truth; and that God wants us to tell him the truth about what we do wrong. Your child had a chance to participate in the rhymes with motions, as well as sticker activities during the lesson, as well as a warm-up activity making snakes out of playdough and group activities such as making their own craft, a guessing game, and a small group activity where they discussed how sin makes us sad. Below are some family activities that will reinforce the key concepts learned in class, as well as teach children some new concepts that relate to the story of Adam and Eve. Genesis 3:1-24 James 4:7 1 John 1:9 Key Verses: Verse for Your Encouragement Key Concepts: God is forgiving. God always tells the truth. God wants us to tell the truth. Proverbs 14:26 Proverbs 14:26 26 In the fear of Yahweh is a secure fortress, and he will be a refuge for his children. WEB (The World English Bible is a public domain Modern English translation of the bible). Bible Time: Read the Bible story from a children's picture Bible. Explain how God's rules are for our good, to protect us. God was trying to protect Adam and Eve from sin, pain, death, and sadness. Talk about how sin makes us sad, and when we do what God says, we are happy about it, even though it might be hard at the time. Drawing Activity: Review the Bible story from a children's Bible. Make your own Adam and Eve story book. Help your child draw these pictures with stick figures: 1) Adam and Eve in the garden with fruit trees 2) Snake by a fruit tree. 3) Eve holding fruit with bite out of it 4) Adam holding fruit with bite out of it 5) Snake crawling, Adam and Eve leaving. Mix up pictures, then have your child put them in order. Fold a sheet of construction paper over pages for the cover. Write a title. Staple booklet. Craft Make a spiral snake out of construction paper: Help children make a snake craft: Use a large sheet of colored construction paper or poster board. Draw an oval for the head. Go back-and-forth to draw an S shape or other curvy shape for the snake's body. Draw eyes on the head or use large google craft eyes (Skip the google eyes if you have a baby/toddler who could choke on them). Cut other colors of paper into diamond shapes or ovals to decorate the snake's body. Week 1 Family Activities Game: Fruit hunt. Hide fruit stickers or toy fruits in your house or yard. Draw some paper snakes and put them by a certain fruits (that you can remember). Ask your child to see how many they can find, but to leave the ones there if there is a snake by it (Resist Satan). Those are the ones from the Tree of Knowing Good and Evil. Give kids paper lunch sacks to collect their fruits in. Enjoy a real fruit snack together when you're finished. Soft Snake Activity: Make a toy snake out of a pretty fuzzy sock. Stuff with scraps of fabric or other socks. Put a rubber band a few inches down from the toe to form the head. Turn sock back over on itself, at the end to form the tail. Read James 4:7 to children. Explain that we can say, No and resist the Devil when we are tempted to do something wrong. We can obey what God says instead. Make up scenarios in which you child might be tempted to do something wrong, using the snake as a puppet. The snake tries to convince the child to do something wrong. Help your child think about how he could say no and resist the snake. Activity: Act out story, using your child's craft from class. Hang the snake from the ceiling or a high object. Move snake up close to child and hold up a piece of fruit, explaining that it is from the Tree of Knowing Good and Evil. Instruct children that this time, instead of doing what Adam and Eve did, let's do what God said. Ask them what they could say to resist the Devil. They could say, No. I'm going to do what God says. God says not to eat the fruit from that tree. Or they could just say No and run away. Bible Kids Fun Zone members may reproduce this page for local preschool or church use.
