ST. MARY ROMAN CATHOLIC CHURCH - KINGMAN, AZ COME TO ADORATION The best time you will spend on earth! Come with me by yourselves to a quiet place and rest. Mk 6:31 The Most Blessed Sacrament One of the greatest treasures of our Catholic faith is to have the Sacrament of the Eucharist-Jesus reserved in the tabernacle of our Catholic Churches day and night. A tabernacle is a small cabinet-like enclosure, usually decorated in gold, and always made of very heavy, solid material to protect the Blessed Sacrament from any damage. It is fixed securely ( unable to move about) on an altar or pedestal and is kept locked to protect the Blessed Sacrament from being taken or shown any disrespect or violation. With great reverence we refer to the Real Presence of Jesus reserved in the tabernacle as the Most Blessed Sacrament. A blessed candle burns constantly near the tabernacle to tell us that Jesus, the Light of the World, is truly present in the Most Blessed Sacrament. In the Garden of Gethsemani, before His crucifixion, Jesus asked His Apostles, Could you not keep watch with me for one hour? Spending one hour with Jesus thus became a tradition in the Church. Hours that need an honor guard are; Sunday Monday Tuesday Wednesday Thursday Friday Saturday 5 a.m., 1 p.m., 8 p.m., 11a.m., 5 p.m. 3 p.m., 4 p.m., 5p.m., 8 p.m., 6 a.m., 9 a.m., Noon 7 a.m., Noon 6 a.m., 7 a.m., 10 a.m., 11 a.m., Noon 10 a.m., 11 a.m., 7p.m., 8 p.m. To schedule your holy hour with Jesus, please call Paulette Dollarhide at 753-5449 RCIA Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults Would you like to know more about our wonderful Catholic Faith? This class is open to all. Are you an adult and seeking Confirmation? Do you know someone interested in becoming Catholic? Join us on Thursday evenings at 7:00 p.m. at the parish center side door entrance Devotion to the Sacred Heart of Jesus Join us every Wednesday at 5:10p.m. as we consecrate ourselves to the Sacred Heart of Jesus, pray the glorious mysteries of the Holy Rosary, and recite the chaplet of Divine Mercy for our loved ones and all the souls in purgatory. Every First Friday of the month we will begin Devotions to the Sacred Heart of Jesus at 5:30 p.m. Second Sunday in Ordinary Time In the Gospel today, Jesus asks What are you looking for? Often we are looking for happiness in very selfish ways, but we find that when we look for ways to make others happy, it is then that we truly become happy. As you give your gift to the Society of St. Vincent de Paul, know that you are a sign of God s love to those who are suffering and you give them reason to believe and to trust.

MARY ROMAN CATHOLIC CHURCH - KINGMAN, AZ Arizona for Life March and Rally 2018 With gratitude to God, I invite you to join me and thousands of families and people of good will for the signature pro-life event of 2018 in our state. The event, sponsored by the Arizona Life Coalition and supported by our Marriage and Respect Life Office, will take place on Saturday, Jan. 20, 2018 from 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. in downtown Phoenix. Information is available @ www.azliferally.org. May our Lord give us the courage and determination to stand for all who have no voice. Blessings to you in Jesus, the Lord of Life, Thomas J. Olmsted Bishop of Phoenix Our Daily Bread Thanks to your generous donations year to date we have made and distributed 40,758 sandwiches. Since the inception of Our Daily Bread 122,591 sandwiches have gone to feed those in need. We are in need of peanut butter, relish, canned chicken and most importantly bread. Our bread supplier can no longer support our needs, so we must rely on additional sources to continue the ministry. Our sandwiches go to support many agencies that help feed the hungry. Some of those are: Cornerstone Mission, St. Vincent de Paul, several schools, and Praise Chapel. You may drop your donation at the parish center. Thank you for your continued support. Gospel of Life Appeal Next week we will have a collection for the Gospel of Life Appeal. The goal of this diocesan appeal is to collect funds so that the Diocese of Phoenix can continue its mission to uphold the right-to-life of all people from conception to natural death. Since 2011, funds collected from the appeal have been split and used for three different purposes. 1. Parish respect life activities: One-third of the funds collected at a parish will remain with the parish and are to be used for parish Respect Life activities at the pastor s discretion. 2. Diocesan educational projects: One-third of the funds will support the work of the Office of Marriage and Respect Life as they educate Catholics on pro-life issues and mobilize them to take action in their community. 3. Virtue Media Advertising: One-third of the funds will continue our Virtue Media Advertising campaign. These ads reach out to young women experiencing an unintended pregnancy and connect them through a toll-free number to a local pregnancy center ready to help them choose life for their unborn children.
