We realize that some members work, others cannot drive at night, and some cannot attend due to their health. Remember, what you put into it is what you get out of it. Retention Committee Dues notices for 2014 will be mailed in January. Please submit your dues to the Financial Secretary as soon as possible. The Council has to submit the per capita to both Supreme and to State. If you wish to drop your membership, please indicate that on the dues notice by typing or printing your notice to withdraw from the Knights, date it, print and sign your name. Return your notice to the Financial Secretary. Thank You. CHARITY COMMITTEE: - General Guidelines 1. Be reasonable in your requests. Chancellor Report, Ray Cordell Brother Knights, HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!!!! January 2014 is a very busy month for Knights and friends of 4483. We begin the month with the BCS National Championship game on Monday, January 6, 2014. The Florida State Seminoles take on the Auburn Tigers at 7:30pm and for $5.00, you get pop, beer, snacks fraternal camaraderie (and maybe even some pizza). Please mark your calendar for the Past Grand Knights Dinner on January 18. This annual event is open to ALL members of the Holy Rosary family, and honors the men that have dedicated their time, effort and leadership to make our council successful. Come on out and enjoy an evening of good food, friendship and tribute for our guest of honor, PGK Ken Kudla. We are pleased and honored to have Fr. Brian Simpson from St. Colette as our social night speaker on January 23. Fr. Simpson s experience as a military chaplain makes him an outstanding speaker and example for all members and guests who attend this social meeting presentation Thank you for your encouragement and support in 2013 and we look forward to seeing you often in 2014. Fraternally yours, Chancellor Ray Cordell Chaplin Report - Deacon Joe Yannotta Link to Joseph A happy, safe and healthy New Year to all my brother Knights and your families, this has certainly been quite a year for all of us, both locally and around the world. It would be impossible to list all of the life changing events of this year because we have seen the complete array of the Good, the bad and the ugly. The Good in the election our Holy Father Pope Francis and, the revitalization and energy he continues to provide for our mother the church and each of us as Catholics. The Bad, in such tragic moments as the Boston Marathon bombing and the continued senseless violence and shootings in our schools and on our streets and the Ugly, as seen in the horrific storms and accidents that result in the devastation of entire cities and the untimely loss of human life. But throughout all of this we share a common bond. The belief that the events of this life, both good and bad, are nothing in comparison to the life promised to us in Christ Jesus. Joy, laughter, sorrow and grief are just passing moments in our earthly journey as we read from the second letter of Paul to the Corinthians, So we are always courageous, although we know that while we are at home in the body we are away from the Lord, for we walk by faith, not by sight. And so let us looking with joyful anticipation towards the coming year and continue our good works both as Knights and Catholic gentlemen. Peace and Grace to all, Deacon Joseph Yannotta Lucky Bucks winners in December were: Bill Schroeder, Tom Loch & Michael Ferreter 2014 tickets have been mailed. For additional tickets, contact Joe Kramer JKramer001@aol.com CLEARBROOK RECAP Submitted by Al Vermiglio The Gala 2013 Clearbrook Christmas Dinner Dance was held on December 6th. The event was a success due to the work of the many volunteers who helped by preparing the food, greeting our guests, serving them food and drinks, and participating in the singing and dancing. A special remembrance ceremony was held for Brother John Bauer, who was 4

called home by the Lord last June. John was a driving force in organizing and leading the Clearbrook Dinner Dance program for over 20 years. The ceremony was originally held at the Fall Dinner Dance; however, many of John's friends were not able to attend the Fall Dance, so it was repeated. Thanks to all the Knights, Ladies Auxiliary, friends and students who were kind enough to help out. We had 40 student volunteers from St. Viator, Hersey, Carmel and Prospect High Schools, St. James Christian Ministry, Saint Colette, and St. Edna. Two volunteers came all the way from Huntley, Illinois, and another from way up at the North Pole. Our Dinner Dances are well received and appreciated by our guests; but those effects are not limited, just, to our guests. Our volunteers: the Knights, Ladies Auxiliary Members, nonmember adults, and students; are all affected by their service at our Clearbrook Dinner Dances. No better example of these effects can be described than an E-mail that was received from a mother of one of our student volunteers. "...I just picked Lili up and wanted you to know she had a fabulous time. She was absolutely glowing when she got in the car. For a teenager who generally answers direct questions only in the car while texting on her phone...it was an awesome ride home for me also. She talked nonstop about the evening and how precious all the guests were. She went on and on about the people she danced with and how their faces were just beaming (Lili's words not mine.) She absolutely wants to attend this event next year. She is also excited to participate in any other similar events. Lili is not currently part of the Teen Ministry but please let us know when something like this arises in the future.... Thanks again for letting us know about this, it was definitely a terrific experience for Lili that warmed her heart, made her happy, and that she will not soon forget." Thanks and congratulations to each volunteer for your service, the next Clearbrook Dinner Dance will be held on Friday, May 2nd. Mark your calendars and plan to volunteer. Let's Keep In Our Prayers Tony Sulla Ray Check Pat Hansen Marilyn Dockus Joe Elsey Bob Gaudio Don Hecht Paul Schmidt Fred Sharkey Family of Jim Stearns Bill Reinert Cathy Morrow Tom Lazzara Carolyn Zitkus Tom Durand Please pray for the thousands of innocent babies who will be killed in the US, this month, by abortions, for our United States Military troops in harm s way, the victims of natural disasters, peace and all deceased Knights and their families. Brothers, Ladies & Other Readers of this newsletter, TO BE ADDED OR DELETED FROM PRAYER LIST Contact Brother Deacon Joseph at jyannotta@comcast.net Or Our Church Director Brother Tarry Hospkins at hoskinstt@att.net Happy New Year and best wishes from the Council Officers to each of you and your families! So what are your new year's resolutions? We hope one of them is to spend more time with families and friends. What could be better! This month on January 18 we will honor Ken Kudla and the other men who have served our council over the past years at our Past Grand Knight Dinner. This event is open to everyone. Plan on attending. See inside our newsletter for full details. 5

On January 23, we will have an "Open House" to welcome all prospective men who might be interested in joining the Knights. (This is in lieu of our regular social meeting normally held on the third Thursday of the month.) This event is open to everyone and we especially encourage your wife to join us. On Sunday, January 26 we will have our "Major Degree" This will be an excellent opportunity for current 1st degree Knights to make their 2nd & 3rd Degrees. There is no cost to Council members and an excellent meal is provided at the end of the day. A gentleman's reminder, this is a men's only event. Vivat Jesus, Mike McMahon, Grand Knight 6
