ST. FRANCIS OF ASSISI COUNCIL 10698 MAY 2016 Newsletter Lord, make me an instrument of your peace. ~ Chaplain s Message ~ Brother Knights, As we enter this beautiful moth of May we call to mind that it is the Month of Mary. With the recent visit of the statue of Our Lady of Fatima to the parish we are reminded how important and powerful the rosary of our Blessed Mother is in bringing peace to our lives and to this very troubled world of ours. I am so pleased that our council will host a living rosary on May 19th and in June, the Patriotic Rosary on the Town Common. Please come and bring your families to these celebrations so we might not only pray together but stand together for the Faith. God Bless, Fr. Vern ~ Grand Knight s Message ~ Greetings brother knights, Please help me in welcoming Bill Wessig, Dave Irwin and Jeff Pronovost, into our order as they began their journey to knighthood at our meeting on April 26 th. Once again our council installation team performed an exemplary Admission (1 st ) ceremony to initiate these gentlemen. My compliments gentlemen. I also had the pleasure to accompany two of our members, Sir Gordon Quinn and Sir Robert Serrano as they advanced into the Knighthood (3 rd ) degree at the Castle of Knights on April 15 th. Our membership is truly growing and I am pleased to tell you we are well on the way to achieving Star council status. Our month of May will be very entertaining and busy. I sincerely hope each of you will take a moment to add the events found on the council calendar and the 3-month agenda in this newsletter to your personal calendars. We have many pleasurable events planned for you and your family and there a few events or projects that need your help. At our meetings in May our council will hold nominations for our 2016/17 officers. The election will be held at our June 14 th meeting. There are a few seats needed to be filled as some officers may no longer serve or can move up. It would greatly help your council if you would offer to serve in some capacity. The demands and time asked of you is minimal. You will find your service fulfilling. Please step up for your council. Please remember our fallen warriors on Memorial Day. All Knights are asked to participate in the parade and ceremony on Belchertown Common on Monday, May 30th. We will gather at our hall at 9:30am. Bill Bowen, Grand Knight ~ Your Prayers are requested ~ For repose of the souls of Briana Cuoco and for all fallen warriors of the U.S. Armed Forces. Eternal rest grant unto them O Lord and may Your perpetual light shine upon them. May their souls and the souls of all the faithful departed rest in peace. Amen For healing and comfort for; Marcel and Jeanne Archambault, Tom Curto, Charles Lydon Sr., Elaine Lydon, PGK Fred LeBlanc, Matt Christ, Jody Wessig, PGK Tom Barry, Elizabeth Barry, Sara Jane Fontaine, John Paul Vanasse, Thomas Bowen, Teri Terzi, Ivan LeBrun, Al Roccanti, Michael and Gil DaCosta, Barbara Hume, Mary Rose Hurley, Noah Jubb, Stan Antonovich. For all those suffering in solitude in need of the healing power of our Lord Jesus Christ. For all to learn and practice Christ s Compassion, Understanding and Patience. For the comfort, safety and well-being of all serving in our military, police, fire fighters, and EMTs. Knights of Columbus St. Francis of Assisi Council 10698 May 2016 Newsletter Page 3 of 10
