(1 Peter 4:10) piritual Gifts are what you enjoy doing, what you and others see you as being good at. piritual gifts are abilities given to you by God. Paul reminds us, in 1 Corinthians 12, that God created humans with a variety of gifts. We need each other and each other s gifts since none of us excel at everything. When our church used an annual ime & alent survey, we weren t excelling at utilizing the offers of help the many people expressed. We regret the frustration that caused and are taking a new approach. he piritual Gifts Inventory (GI) created by our LC asks about 20 different gifts, from skilled crafts to vocal music, from hospitality to mercy. tarting this year, when a ministry needs to be done or started we ll be turning to the GI results instead of ime & alent sheets. We ll be asking which two or three gifts are needed for the ministry to be done, then search the GI results for people whose higher scores are in those areas. You ll be asked to pray and consider getting involved in ministries because of your gifts. Council and My Place have already completed the GI and found it a good resource. s an act of worship on February 21-22, worshipers grade 7 and older will complete the GI during each worship service, collect the results, and bring them to the altar as our first offering. different gifts inventory for younger Christians will be offered also. Your results will be compiled and copied to our council, ministry leaders, and staff; they will be trained in how to use the results. he results will be returned to you along with resources for discerning how to use your spiritual gifts at home and in the community. GI is about finding the right people for the right ministries, and finding the right ministries for each person. It s about people and churches doing ministry based on their strengths. It s another way we want to help you say, I found my place at First Lutheran Church! My Place (the committee formerly known as stewardship)
