ST. JOSEPH PARISH Fr Jim s Jottings Friends, get used to the word ALPHA. You ll hear it a lot over the next few years. Our diocese has embarked on an ambitious program to help all of us become more engaged in our faith and relationship with Jesus. Besides the word ALPHA, get used to the phrase DISCIPLES ON THE WAY. In 2014, the Diocese launched a process into the new evangelization called Disciples on the Way. The goal is to renew each person and, in turn, our parishes through discovering Jesus, following Jesus, worshipping Jesus and sharing Jesus. Our parish staff, Parish Council, and Finance Council have participated in a Discipleship Formation Seminar this fall. Currently these groups are participating in a small faith sharing experience called ALPHA. It is a series of interactive sessions designed to present the Gospel and the essentials of our Christian faith. Each session includes a meal, a video talk, and small group discussion. I ask you to pray for the success of this new adventure. Please be aware that next fall we ll be asking more of our parishioners to do what our parish leadership is currently doing. We hope eventually to have as many parishioners as possible participate in this renewal program. So..keep an ear open for ALPHA and DISCIPLES ON THE WAY. Calendar Raffle Thanks to all those who stopped and picked up their envelope in the back of church. Three Raffle Calendars are in each envelope. We ask you to buy/sell those Calendars between now and the end of the year. (If you would like more Calendars, they are on the radiators in back of church or at our front office desk.) Many parishioners have bought these Calendars and given them to family and friends as gifts at Thanksgiving and Christmas. It s a great gift that lasts a full year for just $20. Thanks again, everyone, for your efforts to make this a successful fundraiser. Thanksgiving Eve Mass Thanksgiving is this week, Nov 23 rd. We will have Mass on Thanksgiving Eve at 6:30 pm.
