St. Ann Boy Scout Troop 98 Dear Saint Ann Parish: We have been blessed to have Boys Scout of America Troop 98 as part of our parish for 60 years. Since its inception 125 plus Scouts have received their Eagle Scout award. The troop is annually recognized as a Quality Unit in the Heart of America Boy Scout Council of Kanas City. Today, there is a lot of excitement, energy, and new ideas keeping scouting relevant to our times. The Troop is proud of its success in teaching young men the art of leadership and how to live a moralistic and ethical life through the Scout Oath and Law. Next Sunday, February 3 rd we will be celebrating Scout Sunday and the 12 th point of the Scout Law, Reverent, which remains with a Scout through his life of service to God, Country and Community. Now, more than ever, the Scouting program is playing a vital role in preparing our youth for adulthood with a true compass founded in timeless values. Be a part of Scouting; it is our responsibility, duty, and obligation to train our children how to be responsible adults in today s world. Please join me in welcoming our Boy Scouts next Sunday and help support Troop 98 by purchasing tickets for their annual Pancake Breakfast on February 10 th after Masses the next two weekends. With a promise of payer, Fr. Craig Maxim First Friday Prayer The Anointing of the Sick will take place at the Mass, Friday, February 1 st in the Chapel. Those wishing to be anointed should sit in the pews near the front. Evening Prayer and Benediction with Deacon Steve will be Friday, February 1 st at 5:45 pm in the Chapel. Since Fridays are a traditional day of fast and abstinence, we invite you to offer prayers and sacrifices for vocations to the priesthood and religious life on the First Friday of the month. This month we ask that you pray for Will Carey, Aaron Waldek, and Tim Skoch, all seminarians for the Archdiocese of Kansas City in Kansas. Please keep all young people discerning vocations to the consecrated and religious life in your prayers. Serving the Hungry St. Ann serves every 4 th Monday of the month and consistently serves more than any other organization volunteering at the food kitchen. Last month we served 357 guests! Our next opportunity to serve our hungry guests at the food kitchen in Kansas City, Kansas is this Monday, January 28 th. We need boneless hams (they will be sliced at the food kitchen), as well as au gratin potatoes (3 boxes to a pan), and fresh and canned fruit. Your donations of these items would be greatly appreciated, as would your offer to come and help serve! Bring donations to the north parking lot between 8:30 and 10 am on Monday. If you have questions, or need a ride, please call Rosie Bohan at 913-722-5109. Parish Book Club *New* Book Club forming! Planning meeting on Tuesday, January 29 th at 7:00 pm in the John Bosco Room. All book lovers are welcome! Blest Art For Sale Blest Art is visiting St. Ann on behalf of the Christian families in Bethlehem, Palestine. Their mission is to support those families in the Holy Land.
