Call to Order: The meeting was called to order by Grand Knight, Mike Ward, and after the Warden s Report, started with an opening Prayer, led by WGK Ward, and the Pledge of Allegiance. Hill X Approval of Minutes: The minutes of the November meeting were approved as read. Membership Director s Report: Brother John Thurman No new applications some who want to join are also involved in other ministries so they may not be available on Wednesdays If they decide to join, may need to hold 1 st degree on a different night.
Reading of Applications: No new applications were read. Worthy Grand Knight, Mike Ward, reminded all Brother Knights of our duties in seeking new members. Major Degree Program Dates: Brother John Thurman Brother Thurman offered assistance to anyone who needs or would like help in obtaining the advanced degrees. Grand Knight s Report: Worthy Grand Knight, Mike Ward Big thanks to all who helped with the breakfast. This was a great success, and the money goes for a good cause. November was a busy month the trash pick-up was cancelled due to weather, and will be rescheduled sometime soon. Breakfast with Santa is this weekend Brother Mark Kellogg, with his rosy red cheeks and a great big smile gladly volunteered to help. The last blood drive was a great success big thanks to Deputy Grand Knight, Mike Kelso for making this possible. We still have some apple butter, and lots of apple sauce. We will have some out for tasting at the breakfast. We will have another get together to make more Apple butter would like to do this before the next breakfast. Chaplain s Report: Fr. Rickey J. Valleroy Father Rickey reminded the council of the Church s teaching of the sacrament of Reconciliation. That although the Precepts only require one time a year, we should make time to partake in this sacrament more often this is a gift we can give ourselves, especially to prepare during the Advent Season. We should put an effort to truly learning what sin is and how it affects us. God became who we are, so we can become who God is. Reading of Bills and Communications: Read current bills for supplies Financial Secretary s Report Brother John Bieser Reminder that Dues are due soon and that our email lists still need some work Audit and Fraternal Survey is coming up Treasurer s Report: Brother Kevin Boatright (Financial reports were shared with the council members in attendance). Went over in detail the results from our recent fund raisers. The golf outing was more profitable this year than last, and the breakfasts are doing great. Reminded those present to keep up recruiting efforts - Now is the time Church Director s Report Brother Charlie Boyd Brother Charlie Boyd is working with Brother Steve Hunter to make arrangements for the Whitehouse Retreat in 2017. Anyone interested should contact Charlie Boyd. 12/18/16 is the day for decorations to be put up in the church volunteers are asked to come after the 10:30 Mass. Men s Catholic Conference is coming up in February this is an awesome opportunity if anyone is interested, please see Charlie Boyd. Community Director s Report DGK Mike Kelso the last blood drive was a success- 41 units received. Thanks to all for the sales of apple butter after Masses as well. Trash pick-up along the highway will be rescheduled pending weather etc. Council Director s Report Family Director s Report: Brother Rob Grindel Brother Mark Halter Pro-Life Director s Report Brother Paul Gaines Roses for Life is coming up soon 1 st or 2 nd in January. Will be put in the Bulletin. Our Council will be giving a donation to the March for Life Pilgrimage in January. There are a substantial number of Knights taking part in this year s Pilgrimage. Remember to Pray for the cause! WGK and Brother Rob Grindel are working for our annual outreach to the Widows of fallen Knights. Visits will be conducted to see what sort of help they may need (may include work around the house etc.) Remember this is the call of the Order! Keep your eyes and ears open for these opportunities! Next blood drive is scheduled for March 12 th Brother Tom Berkbigler Sr has volunteered to donate a large amount of Crappie Fillets for use in a Fish Fry we need to decide how we want to proceed with this generous donation it could be a great opportunity for our Council further discussion is needed. The school has requested an additional donation of $500 to go for the purchase price of cabinets/furniture in the class rooms a motion to donate the requested $500 was made by Brother Gene Eddleman, seconded by Brother James Cissell, and carried by a vote of the council members present. Old Business: Our Coats arrived at SVdP and are being distributed where needed everyone has been extremely happy with the quality of the coats, and the recipients have been very grateful. Fourth Degree Report: Brother John Jones A request was made by Cardinal Glennon Assembly for the hospitality room in the upcoming 4 th Degree Exemplification Saturday February 25 th 2017 in St. Louis Any 4 th Degree (Patriotic Degree) members who wish to accompany our group for the dinner should see Brother John Bieser or Brother John Jones for information. Any 3 rd Degree (Knighthood) members who wish to complete the 4 th Degree (Patriotic) Exemplification should see Brother John Jones, Brother John Bieser, or Brother Jim Rose as soon as possible. The Cardinal Glennon Assembly Christmas party is being hosted by our council any 4 th degree members and their spouse are welcome to attend. Tuesday 12/20/16. All are asked to please bring a food dish. A special request is made of our council s 4 th degree members to please meet after tonight s meeting to discuss the setup and planning of the Christmas party mentioned above.. Field Agent Report: We have a temporary field agent Brother Gary King in Sedwicksville MO if you need anything he can help with please reach out to him. Knights of Columbus Health and Life Insurance, Annuities and Long Term Care Products District Deputy Report District Deputy Mike Bone reminded us to push for recruitment remember all the good things the order does, be sure to share those success stories with prospects. Supreme will be meeting in STL this year in Aug make plans to attend if possible, will be a great experience.
