Braxton Bishop of Belleville We, the people of St. Clare Catholic Parish, In the Diocese of Belleville, are called by God in baptism to be disciples of Jesus Christ. Centered in the Eucharist, and strengthened by the gifts of the Holy Spirit, we strive to live the Gospel and further the reign of God. From Our Pastor, Fr. Jim... Stewardship Call Volunteers Needed Occasionally when I m visiting with a relatively new parishioner and I ask where they plan to get involved at St. Clare they say, The parish looks like it is running so well that I didn t think my help was needed. Like any family, each person s help around the house IS needed! Some join the parish and get involved right away which is greatly appreciated by those who have been volunteering for many years in the parish. As we are in the middle of our Stewardship of Time and Talent call, on behalf of our Stewardship Committee, I want to thank all of who have brought forward your card with a commitment to be engaged in your parish. We are especially grateful to those who are signing up for ministry for the first time. And we make a special call-out to those who are still pondering which ministry to help with so that you know you are needed and your time is valued by your fellow parishioners. I extend a special thanks to those parishioners who have been active and engaged for many years. I think of some of our choir members, St. Vincent De Paul volunteers, funeral luncheons ladies, and many others who keep giving of their time year after year so inspiring! After you sign up, you will eventually get a call or email from the chair of the ministry you committed to. Please make the effort to respond and let the chairperson know you are ready and willing to help. May all our good works give glory to God! Fr. Jim Deiters Reminder to Active Ministry Volunteers! Please sign up on the blue card if you wish to CONTINUE volunteering in your ministry! Thank you. Recent Death: Barbara McNease, wife of W.C. McNease, mother of Ronald, Diana, Joseph and Timothy (2 sons preceded her in death, Michael and John). May she rest in the peace of Christ. Please continue to pray for all who have died and all who are mourning the death of a loved one. If you would like to attend, you may RSVP by calling 722-5045 or contact the parish office if you would like to be seated with other parishioners. RESPECT LIFE CORNER Family Prayer: As older children continue their schooling this fall, it's tempting to want to pour all your protective wisdom into them, especially around issues of faith. As they age, however, share your faith struggles, not just your certainty. Praying together as a family and talking openly is a wonderful way to increase your family s relationship with the Lord and with one another. Learn, Act, Connect, Pray: The Pope has said that the family is the yes of God s love. God s love is the starting point for the family and the strength that allows that family bond to remain strong. Keeping the lines of communication open, especially during this busy time of the back to school hustle, will help set the tone for the entire school year. While there may not be time for a large family dinner every night, set aside time to talk and pray as a family. Now we must look ahead, we must put out into the deep, trusting in Christ s words: Duc in altum! What we have done this year cannot justify a sense of complacency, and still less should it lead us to relax our commitment. On the contrary, the experiences we have had should inspire in us new energy, and impel us to invest in concrete initiatives the enthusiasm which we have felt.
