Page 2 Page 3 Folks, Every so often, it behooves us stop, assess, and if necessary, make changes in our lives. And it's no different for pastors and leadership. While I still firmly believe in our 2015 church goal - the year of discipleship - we're shifting gears on one part (Do you remember what they were? Knowing Scripture; Memorizing Scripture; Learning Catechisms). In the area of catechisms, we have been experienced a sort of evolution. It began a couple years ago, in the children's wing, with each child being challenged to learn 8-10 catechisms a month. This year, the challenge was extended to every member of the church. While I fully support learning catechisms, I struggled with the authority being in the Scriptures, alone, not in a statement of faith (which is what each catechism answer is). Last month, Cathy found a new website that has many of the same catechism questions, but the answers are primarily Scripture. I love that! So, beginning in March, we are evolving, once again. For those of you who have been doing the questions, I hope this format will seem more "Scripturally based." For those who have not started, it's a great time to start! The challenge will be to learn 1 catechism questions as well as 1 memory verse. In essence, we are learning 2 Scriptures a month. I know there are discipleship programs that move much quicker, but my goal is not numbers (never has been at TOBC). I do not want to leave anyone behind, so we will move slowly. And at the end of a year, we will have learned 24 Scriptures, together. That's exciting. And that's discipleship. My hope is that as an elder of TOBC, I am preparing each of you to say, like David, "I have hidden Your Word in my heart that I might not sin against You. " Ps 119:11 So, this is our (re)challenge, and it's very doable. If you, like me, have had a hard time getting on track, It's time to stop, assess, and make changes. It's not too late. If you haven't started your daily Bible reading plan, it's not too late. If you haven't been memorizing the Scriptures, it's not too late. May we be found faithful to "reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ" Ephesians 4:13. And let's not do it alone, let's bring the next generation(s) along with us. Privileged to be walking this path with you, Pastor James

If you really want to get into it, you can download the Mixlr app on your phone or tablet and follow our broadcast station (Texas Oaks Baptist Church)! Website Under Construction Our church website is being redesigned! We are making an effort to establish a more contemporary, interconnected online presence as it is becoming a major part of today's society. Most new visitors check out our website or FaceBook page before coming through the doors to meet us. Don't be surprised if you see some of our "media" folks taking pictures or video for content to add to our website. Please check out the site as it is being continuously improved and give Jeremy or Jackie Scroggins your feedback or suggestions! (Yay for Spring Cleaning during Spring Break!) Two things on the agenda: *Work on Trail of Life Set -Scene 1 *Clear out storage areas in the church. If you can help the whole time or for a few hours, we'd love to have you! Pizza lunch provided! Contact Cathy Torrey for questions. After workday, we'll head over to the Torreys for a sleepover! Hope you can join us for dinner, kite decorating (for the Community Kite Festival) and a few other surprises! Contact Deborah or Cathy for questions. Jesus took the Twelve aside and told them, "We are going up to Jerusalem, and everything that is written by the prophets about the Son of Man will be fulfilled." Luke 18:31 What is our only hope in life and death? That we are not our own but belong to God. "For none of us lives for ourselves alone, and none of us dies for ourselves alone. If we live, we live for the Lord; and if we die, we die for the Lord. So, whether we live or die, we belong to the Lord." Romans 14:7 8

The church body would like to Thank You for all you have done over the years. Not only your beautiful piano playing, but your friendship and Godly character will be sorely missed. You are a special man. God s blessings be upon you as you leave TOBC to follow our Father s will. We will always be here for you! Last month, TOBC kicked off its Couples' Date Night Co-op with a home cooked Valentine's Day meal & wonderful "entertainment." Thank you to everyone that made it a success! So, what's a Date Night Co-op?? It's an opportunity for couples to meet once a month for a date, but instead of one or two people planning, everyone helps. What can be planned for a Date Night?? ANYTHING! What should you do? Sign up in the foyer, if you are willing to coordinate a date (only 3 months left for 2015!). Let Debi know the details the month before your "date." And enjoy time with other couples each month! This month, Pastor James & Cathy will host Date Night @ their home! Game Night will be March 7th @. We'll begin with a Baked Potato Meal --potatoes provided; couples bring favorite topping and dessert. We'll then partake in some "friendly" competition. Any question?
