It evolved from the ranks of college basketball when a freshman leaves for the NBA after one year of eligibility. Our celebration of the Resurrection of Christ is anything but one and done. We actually celebrate this glorious commemoration for the next forty days leading up to His Ascension. The inspiring words of the Easter Anthem that we sang over and over today ( Christ is Risen from the dead. ) will be engrained in our mind. Beyond that, every time we gather for the Divine Liturgy on a Sunday, it s a mini-easter. Study the words of the Troparian for the day. Each one has a Resurrection theme to it and is why they are referred to as the Resurrection Tones. Christ is Risen! Even more than having Christ is Risen in our minds, ideally, they should engulf our hearts. We are Easter people and we re called to go about our days, weeks, months and years with that spirit reflected in our being. In the love of our Risen Lord, Indeed He is Risen! Fr. Bruce S. Riebe

John 3:16 Bright Week We call the six days after Easter Bright Week. All the liturgies are celebrated as if it were today (with only the readings changing). The royal doors on the icon screen will remain open. Come and get your fill! Monday is a Solemn Holyday. The liturgy will be at 7:00 p.m. and include a procession around the church where the Resurrection Gospel from each of the Evangelists will be chanted at the four corners. (This is symbolic of Jesus call to the Apostles to spread the Good News to all the earth.) Tuesday is a Simple Holyday. We also commemorate St. George the Martyr. Starting time once again is 7:00. Wednesday through Friday services start at 8:00 a.m. and are not Holydays. Our posture for prayer until Pentecost Sunday is standing, again symbolic of the Resurrection. Lenten Fish Fry Stats It was another successful year for our Lenten Fish Fries. We had a tremendous core of volunteer help. We earned a profit of $14,863.92. A ten percent tithe was given to the St. Joseph Outreach. If you are a numbers person, the attendance figures were as follows. The average at lunch time was 56 (that includes take-outs). We had a high on week #1 of 83 and a low of 36 on the final week. For dinner we averaged 382 meals (including take-outs). Our high was week #2 at 439 and the low figure was the last Friday at 316. Thanks to the volunteers, patrons, advertisers and to coordinators Jim and Pat Lesnick. Our First Fryday Dinners resume in May. Restroom Project Update The ADA restroom project has gone out for bids. Architect Glen Ramage sent the drawings to three companies with a May 8 deadline for return. To date we have had $13,000.00 donated toward this upgrade. (We established a Building Fund account with diocesan approval, so there is no ten percent assessment to the chancery. The estimated cost is in the area of $50,000.00. If you would like to contribute, contact Father.)

Easter Reflection Easter Sunday is the most important day in all of history. It s the culmination of God s magnificent plan of salvation and the foundation of our whole faith as Catholics. Yet as vital a sign as this is, how much do we really know it? How well do we let this sign bring us to deeper and more joyful faith? Don t be content with what you know! Even if you know a lot, seek out more insight and revelation. Today is the perfect day to set aside some time to read at least one account of Jesus resurrection. Real all four if you can. Be like Mary Magdalene, and run to the tomb. Stay there until you hear Jesus calling you by name. Honor this day. Celebrate it. Remember that it isn t just about Jesus; it s also about the new life he has given to you. To everyone! All of us who have been baptized into his death are also baptized into his glorious resurrection!
