OUR MISSION STATEMENT: Growing In Faith Together (G.I.F.T.) Dear Parishioners, Our deepest sympathy to the families of David DePyper and Annie Meyer. May their souls, and the souls of all the faithful departed, rest in peace. Last Sunday, I was privileged to listen to the teens and chaperones who attended the Steubenville North Conference. I am extremely impressed by the level of sharing during that time. Many shared how they enjoyed most the sacraments and adoration. They all received so much from the conference, and your prayers and support made that possible. I am elated to see a thriving group of teens on fire for the faith, and am excited to see how that faith is shared. It reinforced something that Pope Francis said during one of the many World Youth homilies and addresses: Youth are the greatest evangelizers of youth! Youth can offer all of us a challenge to grow in our faith! I am impressed to see youth attending daily Mass at St. Peter (aware that during the school year this will not be possible). There is something good happening here and I hope that we all can see it. The youth of the parish are not just of the future they are now. Last week, at the Boys Camp for the Diocese, I gave a meditation on St. Peter walking on the water. I reflected that it was the second step that was even more important than the first, as St. Peter still had one foot in the boat until then. That has captured my prayer these last days. Sometimes we might be tempted to think that it is the first step as the most important, when in reality the more difficult step is the decision to continue. But we remember that the safest place to be is with Jesus, so we continue to walk with Him. Let s encourage each other to do precisely that! In Christ, Fr. Todd J. Petersen =================================================================
