One cannot know the Lord without being in the habit of adoring, of adoring in silence. Pope Francis Dear Parishioners, Happy Summer Time to you! Once every three years in the summer time the Church gives us the Bread of Life Discourse to ponder. Five consecutive Sundays July 29th to August 25 th --we meditate on nearly the whole chapter of John 6. The chapter begins with Jesus performing the miracle of multiplying 5 barely loaves and 2 fish to feed over 5,000 people. The text of John 6:11 says, Then Jesus took the loaves, gave thanks, and distributed them.. You and I recognize these words as those we pray at every Mass, He himself took bread, and giving you thanks, he said the blessing, broke the bread and gave it to his disciples. With these Eucharistic Gospel readings for 5 consecutive weeks I believe it is a good time for us as a parish to have a brief opportunity for Eucharistic Adoration before Saturday/Sunday Mass. So, 15 minutes before Mass in the month of August we will have adoration. We did this in Lent for 30 minutes before Mass. This time will be different in that it will be (1) shorter and (2) a "guided" prayer time. I will offer some guided prayer to those who are present. (I realize folks will be arriving as we are adoring that is just fine). We will conclude adoration as we did during Lent: I will do the welcome as I and the servers/reader kneel (reader may choose to sit) before the Blessed Sacrament, announce the opening hymn, repose the Blessed Sacrament and then invite everyone to stand at which time we will begin our opening hymn. So, there will not be an opening procession, as such, but we will have an opening hymn. Everything else in Mass will be as usual. PLEASE NOTE THAT SATURDAY CONFESSIONS FOR AUGUST WILL BE 4:10-4:40PM and 7:10-7:40PM. In Jesus & Mary, Fr. Gregory Moreover, I want to encourage everyone to visit if possible, every day especially amid life s difficulties, the Blessed Sacrament of the infinite love of Christ and His mercy, preserved in our churches to speak filially with Him, to listen to Him in silence, and to peacefully entrust yourself to Him. This June each parish council independently voted to cease their individual monthly meetings in favor of joining the monthly JLT. In this way the current parish councils can join the JLT in the crafting of the Joint Mission Team (JMT). The JMT, once functional, will completely replace the individual parish councils and the JLT.
