Thus he does not lose his divinity when he teaches us humility... What great thing was it to the king of the ages to become the king of humanity? For Christ was not the king of Israel so that he might exact a tax or equip an army with weaponry and visibly vanquish an enemy. He was the king of Israel in that he rules minds, in that he gives counsel for eternity, in that he leads into the kingdom of heaven for those who believe, hope, and love. It is a condescension, not an advancement for one who is the Son of God, equal to the Father, the Word through whom all things were made, to become king of Israel. It is an indication of pity, not an increase in power." (Tractates on John 51.3-4) Pray the Triduum With Us The three most sacred days of the church year begin with the Mass of the Lord s Supper on Holy Thursday evening and continue with Good Friday and Holy Saturday s Vigil Mass. The joy of Easter is better appreciated when we walk the journey with Jesus from the last Supper to the empty tomb. Make time for one or all of the very beautiful and spiritually enriching liturgies of the Triduum. Your Easter Gift to Our Church As you know, we particularly depend upon the Easter collection to meet some of our major bills, including our mortgage, to keep our parish the fine place of worship which you have helped to maintain over the years. Your Easter gift is a chance to go above and beyond day to day support of our parish that you fund through your weekly envelopes. Please give generously to our Easter collection. Deepest thanks to you for your kindness and generosity at this time.

April 14, 2019 Page 2 #623 Parishioners are Welcome to Attend The Diocesan Chrism Mass The Chrism Mass reflects the communion of priests with the Bishop. During the Mass, the priests of the Diocese renew their commitment to their service. The Bishop will bless the oils to be used in parishes, the Oil of the Sick, and the Oil of Catechumens, which is used in the preparation of catechumens for their Baptism. The Bishop also consecrates the Sacred Chrism, which is used to anoint the newly baptized, seal candidates for Confirmation, as well as in the rites of anointing during dedication of churches and altars. The Chrism Mass will be celebrated on Monday, April 15, at 7:30 PM in St. Robert Bellarmine Co-Cathedral, Freehold.
