With this edition, we enter a new era, sending the newsletter primarily by e-mail. We will continue to print and mail to those members who have indicated a desire to receive the newsletter by traditional means. Let me know how you like the new procedure. Carolyn Wa n - na- g o s G l a d e wat e r r a l ly Tues. March 27 Meet-n-greet Gladewater, Texas was the site for the Wan-na-go s first rally of 2012. Many of the 34 coaches attending the rally arrived on Saturday or Sunday prior to the actual start. Meeting and greeting was well underway and continued on opening night. Everyone brought snacks to share. Wed. March 28 A big delicious home cooked breakfast welcomed the hearty souls who rose early to start the first day s activities. Don & Sally Richmond, Rally Masters, and their good friends, Larry & Faye Hartwick prepared a great breakfast for the group every day. After breakfast, Monaco Wan-na-go s were pleased to welcome visitors Kwan and Chun Kim (Continued on page 2) 1

(Gladewater Rally, continued from page 1) at the first timer s meeting. After three days, they chose to become members. Welcome to our newest Wan-na-go s! We are happy to have you join us. Evening activities began with our happy hour social get-together featuring the usual margaritas, and other favorite drinks, followed by dinner. The evening entertainment was provided by a very talented duo, Cindy Renee and Company. Cindy played a variety of instruments - guitar, mandolin, violin/fiddle, banjo and drums accompanied by her husband playing the keyboard. She sang popular songs from the 50 s-60 s, plus, country western, Elvis, and gospel. The evening was fast paced and most enjoyable. A great beginning for our rally. Thurs. March 29 Everyone enjoyed another hearty lumber jack breakfast prior to welcoming Monaco RV, LLC representatives, Joshua Cierna, National Sales Manager and Bill Schumacker, Director of M a r k e t i n g. Together they presented an informative s e m i n a r o u t l i n i n g Monaco plans for the future. These two enthusiastic young men gave the group an optimistic view of things to come at Monaco RV. Thursday evening, after our social hour and dinner, we were thoroughly entertained by the group Shake, Rattle, and Roll. This group of four ladies presented a wonderful show of 50 s,60 s tunes along with comedy and audience participation. Fri, March 30 The golfers rose early to enjoy breakfast before departing for their day of golf at The Challenge at Gladewater. Unfortunately, Don and Kati Stacey and Bob Little were involved in an automobile accident when returning from the golf outing. Although non-life threatening, there were injuries. As of this posting they are still feeling the effects of the accident, but are recovering. Please keep them in your thoughts and prayers for a complete, speedy recovery. Happy hour, announcements and dinner started the evening's activities. Larry (the RV park owner) led the group in an evening of Karaoke singing. Again we were most impressed with the talent of some of our members and local volunteers. Everyone had a good time. Sat, Mar 31 The Wan-na-go s arrived hungry to enjoy another great breakfast, followed by the general business meeting. Jan opened the meeting, welcomed everyone, and had each officer introduce themselves. A productive meeting, with much good discussion on several topics ensued. The business meeting minutes are included on page 4. The remainder of the day was spent again enjoying shopping and sightseeing in the Tyler/ Longview area. The final evening featured the usual happy hour, announcements, and dinner. Planned (Continued on page 3) Thanks to rally masters, Don & Sally Richmond, their friends Larry & Faye Hartwick, and all those who helped so much to make the Gladewater Rally such a success. 2

entertainment was the Gladewater Derby, horse races with audience members as jockeys. E v e r y o n e enjoyed betting on their favorite h o r s e s a n d rooting for their pick. Between races, the ever popular auction of left-over bar items, by our own auctioneer, Phil Carrell, assisted by Ronny Finke, made for a fun-filled evening. Sun, November 6 Happy and safe travels to all. We look forward to seeing everyone at the next rally at Choctaw Casino KOA, Durant, OK, T h a n k s t o o u r r a l ly s p o n s o r s! G e t w e l l w i s h e s Best wishes to Don & Kati Stacey and Bob Little for a fast and complete recovery from injuries after their auto accident at Gladewater. Speedy recovery to Grant Rogers and Larry Meaders following their recent surgery. c o n d o l e n c e s To the family of Jim and Nancy Harris, upon the death of Nancy s brother-in-law. Article IV Officers; Para 1: Their duties will become effective the first day of the calendar year following their election. Para 3: The elected officers of this chapter shall serve a one(1) year term of office starting January 1 and ending December 31. These changes were reflected in a motion, and were seconded and passed. Suzanne Reaves read the proposed changes to the standing rules as follows: Rule 3. B. An Associate Member is a previous member of the Chapter who no longer owns a qualifying motor coach, continues to pay the dues and has all the privileges of a regular member, less that of voting and holding office. The Associate Member must maintain membership in the FMCA. (March 2012) Rule 10. The Chapter business meeting will be held at 9:00 am on the last morning of the last full rally day, a temporary exception must first be discussed with the President. A majority vote of the Executive Board would be required for any temporary change to take effect. The Secretary should record the outcome of this vote. (March 2012) The change is only to spell correctly the word effect, not affect. Rule 12. This rule will be removed, as it is the same as rule 10. After removing rule 12, the remaining rules will be re-numbered to reflect their correct sequence. These rules were seconded and passed by the members present. New Business: Jan Erickson discussed volunteerism pertaining to the club and the difficulty in getting volunteers for rally masters and board positions. She proposed having more rewards and incentives for these jobs. Bob Erickson proposed a motion from the floor to give the Rally Master for each rally a free rally fee for an upcoming rally of his choice. This money would be distributed from the general fund. This motion was seconded and passed. (Continued on page 6) 4

We enjoyed afternoon social hours every day and two wonderful luncheons that were part of the rally experience which included the activities provided by the Balloon Fiesta. The Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta offices are busy preparing for the 2012 Fiesta. New Mexico s Centennial also occurs this year. The entire Fiesta runs from October 6 14, and our rally runs from the 10 th through the 14 th. Included in the rally fee will be four bring your own beverage social hours, two luncheons, and a surprise or two! The fee also includes passes to the balloon field for every event and DRY CAMPING for your motor home for four nights. We will be parking in the VIP West R.V. area which is adjacent to the south end of the launch field. This location gives us an excellent opportunity to enjoy the balloon launches in the mornings and fireworks in the evening. Bean bag drops and key grabs by the balloonists are best viewed on the field which we have passes to attend. There are many food and other vendors also located around the field. This year, the rally fee has been reduced thanks to Monaco International RV Club s support. We would like to invite everyone to enjoy the Balloon Fiesta experience with us.
