Order of Worship 11:00 a.m. July 24, 2016 ~ Gathering before the Word ~ Prelude Fantasy on Ode to Joy Beethoven Welcome & Service of Friendship Pastor Darryl Evans *Call to Worship Clap your hands, all you peoples! Shout to God with loud songs of joy! For the Lord, the Most High, is awesome and sovereign over all the earth. *Hymn of Praise No. 581 Joyful, Joyful, We Adore Thee HYMN TO JOY *Prayer of Confession Heavenly Father, in Jesus Christ you have shown us love: Love that seeks; love that suffers; love that survives all things. You call us to show that love in our lives. Yet we turn away. We confess that the ways of love are not our ways. Loving those who are different from us is hard. Have mercy upon us. Remind us that you do not love us because we are lovely, but that your love is what makes us lovely. Help us to share that kind of transforming love. Leader: People: *Song of Response (Please continue in a moment of silent, personal confession.) Believe the Good News of the Gospel: In Jesus Christ we are all forgiven! Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Ghost; as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen, Amen. Prayers of the People & the Lord s Prayer Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory, forever. Amen.
