2 Order of Worship 11:00 a.m. August 9, 2015 ~ Gathering before the Word ~ Prelude Before the Throne Cook Welcome & Service of Friendship Rev. Michael Krauter Trinity Chimes Choral Call Come Worship the Lord JS Bach Choristers *Call to Worship -Psalm 95:1-2, NIV One: Come, let us sing for joy to the LORD; let us shout aloud to the Rock of our salvation. All: Let us come before him with thanksgiving and extol him with music and song. *Hymn of Praise No. 557 O God Beyond All Praising THAXTED *Prayer of Confession Gracious God, Our sins are too heavy to carry, too real to hide, and too deep to undo. Forgive what our lips tremble to name, what our hearts can no longer bear, and what has become for us a consuming fire of judgment. Set us free from a past that we cannot change; open to us a future in which we can be changed; and grant us grace to grow more and more in your likeness and image; through Jesus Christ, the light of the world. Leader: People: (Please continue in a moment of silent, personal confession.) Believe the Good News of the Gospel: In Jesus Christ we are all forgiven!
3 *Song of Response Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Ghost; as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen, Amen. Prayers of the People & the Lord s Prayer Michael Krauter Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory, forever. Amen. ~ Proclaiming the Word of God ~ Anthem Put On the Full Armor of God Steve Harrow Choristers Word with our Children Amy Hamilton Large creatures, small creatures, short and tall creatures, come now and praise the Lord! Young creatures, old creatures, hot and cold creatures, come now and praise the Lord! Sing praise to the Father, sing praise to the Son, sing praise to the Spirit who makes all creatures one. Sing praise for the goodness of what the Lord has done. Let all creatures praise the Lord. (Four year olds through 2nd graders can now be excused to Children s Church. An adult will now escort the children to the SHINE Classroom in the sanctuary basement across from the choir room, where they will be picked up by a parent after the service.) *Hymn of Preparation No. 426 My Faith Looks Up to Thee OLIVET Scripture Reading Daniel 6:10-18 Leader: This is the Word of the Lord. People: Thanks be to God. Sermon Unswerving Faith is Contagious Michael Krauter ~ Responding to the Word of God ~ *Affirmation of Faith The Apostles Creed I believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth; And in Jesus Christ His only Son our Lord; who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried; He descended into hell; the third day He rose again from the dead; He ascended into heaven, and sitteth on the right hand
4 of God the Father Almighty; from thence He shall come to judge the quick and the dead. I believe in the Holy Ghost; the holy catholic Church; the communion of saints; the forgiveness of sins; the resurrection of the body; and the life everlasting. Offering Offertory Canon in D Pachelbel *Doxology Praise God, from whom all blessings flow; Praise Him, all creatures here below; Praise Him above, ye heavenly host; Praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost. Amen. *Prayer of Thanksgiving *Hymn of Commitment No. 351 Love Divine, All Loves Excelling HYFRYDOL *Charge & Benediction Postlude Send Us Your Spirit Haas *All who are able please stand.
