Meeting called to order by President Rick Kolkman at 7:00 pm. Opening Devotions: Rick Kolkman Previous Minutes: Motion made to approve the minutes from the August 15, 2011 meeting. Motion carried. Members from Christian d expressed their concerns with Pet unday. Correspondence: Letter from Bishop to encourage leadership among members, and honor pastor and staff during October which is Clergy month. Worship and Music committee will coordinate this recognition. Committee Reports: Christian d/youth & Family ational Youth Gathering is July 2012 and the youth will need to raise $6,000 to cover expenses, the rest of the costs will be covered through the budget and the portion the have resumed. On October 16 th, a family event is planned. Lunch will be served after the 10:30 am service and then go to the pike and go through the corn maze. Finance After receiving $25,000 from the hrake fund to use for operating expenses, there will be approximately $5,700 left at the end of eptember. Motion made by to use the $25,000 from the hrake fund for operating expenses. Motion carried by unanimous vote. C&B offerings continue at their normal rate with the letter and talk having little effect on them. Worship & Music Recommend one service on Reformation unday, October 30 th at 10:30 am with potluck following the service. Purpose of the one service is to bring people together for fellowship. Christian Outreach o report. tewardship Time and Talent sheet has been updated. It will be given out during the service and included in the next newsletter. Those attending a service will be encouraged to complete right away. Library o report. Preschool o report. Property Accepted bid from akes for new copier and approved lease agreement. Looking for a single stage small snow blower. Concern was expressed about lights not on after dark on the cross and in the bell tower, checking into this. Foundation ext meeting will be in October. Church ffectiveness Committees are encouraged to put some of the Church ffectiveness topics to Pictorial directory Lifetouch has offered to take pictures and compile a pictorial directory for our church. The directory is free and everyone that has their picture taken will receive a free 8x10. The last directory was done 7 years ago. Motion made and approved to do a pictorial directory. Thrivent Choice Advocates Thrivent members earn money through their investments and designate what church, school or organization is to receive the money. The church, school or organization determines how that money will be used. ach church, school, or organization may have Thrivent Choice Advocates who handle the requests for the money and approve or deny the requests. Our church may have up to 4 advocates. : Kathy Lowe attended the Tumbleweed Cluster meeting and reported they are working on outreach. Ideas from the meeting will be given to the Outreach Committee. It was suggested the prison in McCook may be a good outreach opportunity. While at the meeting, bags of kitchen supplies were put together for prisoners who have served their time and are starting a new life. On Mondays, flowers are taken to our members in the hospital, who have been ill, or are celebrating special days. Advent marks the beginning of a new church year. During Advent we prepare to celebrate the birth of Christ on Christmas.
