S T. J O S E P H P A R I S H, A P P L E T O N, W I Fr Jim s Jottings Christ is Risen! Christ is truly Risen!! Alleluia, Alleluia, Alleluia! Digging through some old files, I found this interesting prayer and am sharing it with you. My parish is composed of people like me. I help make it what it is. It will be friendly if I am. It will be holy if I am. Its pews will be filled if I help fill them. It will do great work if I work. It will be prayerful if I pray. It will make generous gifts to many causes if I am a generous giver. It will bring others into worship if I invite and bring them. It will be a parish of loyalty and love of fearlessness and faith of compassion, charity and mercy if I who make it what it is am filled with these same things. May your Holy Spirit strengthen and guide me as I dedicate myself to the task of being your good and faithful servant. With confidence and trust, I make this prayer through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen T-SHIRT SUNDAY MAY 14/15 We ve got an exciting weekend planned for May 14/15 (Pentecost Sunday) to continue our Jubilee celebration. Everyone is invited to please wear your Jubilee T-shirts for Mass. At the end of Mass we will take group photos of our congregation in their places from the front and sides and choir loft. Then following our closing song, everyone is invited to the Great Hall for ice cream and Jubilee cookies. We hope between now and then, most of us will get a Jubilee T-shirt and have it available. It was a great success with many parishioners enjoying the receptions after each of our Masses. One of the highlights was noticing the historical items scattered around the buildings. We have put together a tour of how to see them in an orderly fashion. On the radiators in back of church are copies of the tour. We invite you over the next few months to stop in during the week or after Masses and casually look at our history. BISHOP S ANNUAL APPEAL We are into this year s BAA that helps support the work of our Diocese. Thanks to everyone who has made a contribution so far. We hope that every registered parishioner will help us. If you lost the pledge form, there are some on the back radiators in church. So far 393 parishioners have contributed $72,130 towards helping us reach our target. Thanks again for your generosity and support. NEW Altar Servers It s that time of year when we invite those who would like to become altar servers to sign up. We will have training sessions during May so that the new servers could begin serving during the summer. To become a server you need to at least be finishing 4 th grade. To sign up, please call Fr Jim (419-8738) or our Parish Office (734-7195) and let us know your name, phone number and email address. Please do this by the end of April. Thanks. WWDWWD (why we do what we do) For the next few months this article will appear in our weekly bulletin. It will look at what we do at Mass and, hopefully, offer an explanation. It appears at times there are people who seem very bored by what is going on. Perhaps understanding what we do will make it more meaningful. Why do we almost always begin Mass with a song? One reason is to unite our voices in praising God. In gathering for church we have come from many directions and with varied backgrounds. Singing a song has potential to unite our many voices into one strong voice praising God. The hope is that EVERYONE joins in this song as a sign we ve come together to worship God as one community not as 300 individuals.

And during the final 50 years there were 8 Pastorates. Back in the 70 s the parish experimented with Co-Pastors. The idea lasted about eight years with some success. However, it was felt that sooner or later there is a need to know who is the point person and the one really in charge. Please Support our Advertiser of the Week.
